Mate - I'm not advocating he stay - I'm saying that FSG obviously a) don't blame him solely for poor transfers or b) still think he's the man for the job
That being the case (and fact, as he's not being sacked), they need to continue to invest in our squad. I'd prefer new blood was able to spend it, but that's not going to be the case. What's clear is that if we stick with last year's squad, less sterling and with the addition of a few journeyman, we will end up 6th at best.

I have read a lot of arguments about money spent by clubs and their final league positions. and they go like this: we spend the 5th biggest amount so our rightful place is 5th i.e outside the CL places. So it seems to me then that the only way to buck that trend is to 1) buy astutely (not necessarily raw or young or potential) - older players, frees etc) and 2) get a really good manager and pay him even over the odds. That way we hope to get a squad and a team that will OVERPERFORM over expectations and get us into CL.
To hope to outspend the Mancs, Chelsea City or even Arsenal on a CONSISTENT basis is cloud cuckoo land. It is simply not going to happen. That is why we needed a better than average manager.
