Amazing fact of the day. Donald ***en, the main man is Steely Dan has a net personal worth of $30 million. The support act, Steve Winwood has a net personal worth of $60 million. Elvis Costello, who has also supported Steely Dan on tour has a net personal worth of $70 million. No ****ing justice, even though I love Costello.

I have Costello's first album signed by all the original band. We lived in Gateacre at the time, as did his Mum. When the band played Liverpool they dossed down at his Mum's house to save money. Me and a few mates heard about this from the local newspaper shop owner so off we set with our albums tucked under our arms and they signed them for us.

I have it in a frame in the hall and the Mrs hates it as it never fits with the way she decorates/furnishes the hall, but it is staying in its place!

Nice one. He was born in London, but he grew up in Birkenhead. I met him once outside the Midland hotel in scumland. What a ****ing nice feller. I absolutely can't believe that Steve Winwood is worth more than Neil Young <yikes>

It only matters if you equate personal wealth with standing.
By that I mean having more money than someone doesn't make you better than them.

Stevie Winwood has done a lot of production work for other artists and appeared on numerous albums for other artists. He would also get royalties for songs he wrote for others. He also hit the "big time" relatively young so has had a long innings. One of my colleagues met him on a job, did not know who he was not being into music, and SW asked him if he wanted a cup of tea whilst he was waiting for the person he had arranged to meet. SW then made him a cuppa. They had a chat and apparently he is a really down to earth bloke, but likes to keep under the radar.

It was only when said colleague got back to the office and was talking about the case that others pointed out he had met someone famous.

Neil Young also has a notoriously bad reputation to work with so that might have come into it.

How they invested their money is up to them <whistle>

i've no idea who the hell steve winwood is. maybe he sold a song to someone who can actually sing or something and that made him more money :)

I fully understand that. Neil Young has been at it for donkey's. Buffalo Springfield, solo, with Crazy Horse and Crosby, Stills and Nash, of course. Not to mention Pearl Jam. The man's a ****ing genius. Just don't understand it. Having said all that, Winwood is a brilliant keyboardist, guitarist and singer and has written some great tunes. It's just gratifying that he's the warm up for my personal favourite <laugh>

Forgot to mention. The current licensees of the Cheese used to have a pub in Gloucestershire that was Winwood's local. He was very low profile there. I would imagine it's a slightly different gaff to where they are now <laugh>

That doesn't mean Donald Fegan has earned less money than the other two. He might have earned more but already spent it... Or made less wise investments.

Either way. Would your lifestyle be vastly different if you had £30mill or £70mill? Either way, your basic lifestyle will be essentially the same.

Maybe you can afford to maintain several less houses and afford one or two less staff to serve you... But essentially the same lifestyle.
