It seems that when I went down the stairs for the second time 7 months ago and thought I'd done my groin again, I'd actually fractured my hip. I now have to go for a CAT scan and he'll decide want route to take based on that. My left leg is now over an inch shorter than my right. The X-rays also showed some arthritis in both my hips. He can either leave it as it is, break it and reset it, or (most likely) give me a hip replacement, on top of both my knees <yikes> I got out 3.5 hours later. ****ing hell <doh>

Carling did this

Unlikely, given it's mooted on here to have no alcohol content. Thanks for the sympathy <grr>
Copious amounts of Carling = RHC falling over = broken hip

I know a few people who've had replacement knees, are you having both done at the same time like? As they usually just do the worst one, and see how you go.

It'll have to be one thing at a time, I believe. The CAT scan should settle what comes first - hip or left knee.

you cant just leave the hip cos it will put too much strain on other side and on knees if done.

you only get one set of new knees.

sorry to hear it

It would look silly below the knees.

Seriously, hope it all goes well - not an easy time. <ok>

So my bone densitometry (DEXA) scan went well yesterday. My appointment at radiology was at 2.30 pm and I went in on the dot. The scan took 10 minutes. Then the radiologist came to me and said I was going to have to go to A & E as it looked as though my left hip was broken <yikes> I saw thye on call orthopeadic doc first and she said I had too much movement for it to be a recent break. She'd contacted my consultant, who duly appeared 30 minutes later. He examined me again and then sent me for more X-rays.
