I was approached by a headhunting firm in September 2017. I thought I would listen to them and they offered me the same position with a new company, but an extra 14k and same bonus system and a better car, an Audi. I thought why not as a change might do me good. Handed my notice in and the director in charge of my division came back to me and offered me 16k and an E series Mercedes as a company car.
I was a bit cheesed off as it had taken me ages to decide to go and now I had another decision to make. The Mrs suggested "better the devil you know" so I stayed.
I have had a good year with fees so should get a healthy bonus as well.
The point I was trying to make was that the grass is not always greener elsewhere, we have had people leave our company, burning their bridges with the way they went, who have then tried to come back to us once they realised they had been sold a "pup" by the new employer. Needless to say we have not had them back. I know of one who was on about 135k with bonus plus a decent company car with us, who is now working for about 40k and no car, after the new job he went to for more money disappeared overnight when the firm went belly up, and has had to cash his pension in early to make ends meet as he still has a large mortgage.

Apparently after last Christmas, they badgered me into being 'Bad Santa' for the adults on the night of the kid's Christmas party at the Cheese. I was pissed / stoned at the time and had totally forgotten. Apparently the adults come to me with notes saying what they want for Christmas. I have to comment on their requests and tell them if they're getting it. Might actually be quite enjoyable. License to be brutally horrible to people I dislike and they can't do ****ing anything![]()
