Yep. You have the correct '40 comments per page' setting enabled as I see the same comment as you posted. These batards only have it on '20 comments per page' <doh>

It's a well-known anatomical fact that clicking with one's index finger uses less energy than scrolling twice the distance on a mouse-wheel with one's middle finger.
Exhaustive clinical tests have established beyond doubt that having 40 posts per page will render one incapable of doing this:

I don't use my middle finger to scroll... I use my index finger. I slide my finger across to the middle.

It's like the clutch on the car. You have one foot works the clutch- the other foot works both brakes and accelerator (you don't use both at the same time.

My middle finger is on the right-click button and my index finger works both the wheel and the left-click button (I wouldn't use both at the same time)... I would need a huge mouse to rest three fingers atop of it and the mouse would be less agronomical.
