Seeing as how Ricky Gervais is dividing opinion on another thread are there any other comedians that you either love or hate?
Because of shows like Mock the Week and Live at the Apollo (Hammersmith Odeon, get real) there have been hundreds of comedians shoved into the limelight over the last few years and not all of them are much use. Many reputations seem to be built on very little actual talent whereas others are superb.
Here's my verdict on those I've seen so far -
Jimmy Carr - saw him a few years ago before he lost the weight and some of his stuff was right near the mark and funny as f*ck
Lee Evans - The missus got us tickets, probably laughed twice in 2 hours. If you've seen one show you have seen them all and the twat even finished with a song. I thought that sh1t went out with Mike Yarwood.
Peter Kay - big show at the O2, not exactly ground breaking but not the worst I've seen
Billy Connolly - appeals more to his own age group these days, never got to see him in his prime sadly
Alan Carr - I don't think he writes any of his own material, TV cabaret act at best
Kevin Bridges - saw him very early on, showed a lot of promise
Tim Vine - 1st time I saw him I nearly needed hospital treatment, laughed so hard I almost had a hernia. Not everyone's cup of tea but you can't beat a decent pun
Russell Howard - Liked him on MTW but he has turned into one smug a-hole these days
Rich Hall - his documentaries on America are superb, not stand up & jokes but still funny. His books are also top quality too
Over to you.
