Just deleted my post above - after reading it back, I realised it was going too far to lower myself to Jerel's level just to make a point.

Sorry, guys.

This whole thread has turned into a disgrace. It's vomit inducing and quite frankly makes me sick.

To the mods, it needs to be closed and actions taken imo. These topics are ruining our great board and creating a big divide between many a good poster. Something needs to be done, hopefulle the ones with the right authority does what it takes.

Agreed

Yet you opened it knowing full well where it was going to lead.

To a lot of messages asking him to come back I assumed, obviously didn't legislate for you ****s. And as I said in the part you've removed from my post, looks like he was right to leave :(

Sorry West London Willie, didn't see your post before I wrote my last one. I'll respond now. :)

Jerel, I have some questions:

1. Why do you dismiss other people's words (such as my use of the word bigotry to describe your opinions) when they don't agree with your viewpoint? That you are so narrow minded as to not even consider the possibility that you are wrong, in the face of so much criticism, is the best possible evidence that you are indeed a bigot. it's not meaningless, it's appropriately descriptive of your opinions.

Bigoted (n.): Obstinately convinced of the superiority or correctness of one's own opinions and prejudiced against those who hold different opinions.

All I seek is the truth, whether that agrees with my own previously-held opinion or not. I'm certainly not prejudiced against those who hold different opinions based on reason and logic. So even if you do want to use this hollow word as a put-down, I think it's invalid here and does nothing to further the debate.

When I see a reasoned critique of my opinions, I'll submit. Until then, I'll keep on keepin' on. It's not at all out of the question that I could change my opinions, as I have done on this very board before when confronted with better information.

2. You say you can see why someone would take offence at your words. You fail to understand, however, that this is the whole point. Read the entire thread theough - it's all about giving offence. whether you can come up with any wikipedia articles to back up your bigoted opinion with a fact is irrelevant. You are giving offence, you know it, and you still persist in doing so. Why?

I'm not 'giving' offence. People are choosing to take offence from my promulgating of fact-based arguments. I've already said I didn't see the majority of the perceived persecution against Imaz, and if that was racial and malicious, then I think he'd have been right to report it. But all I saw was a bit of lighthearted japery which he proceeded to crush with a rather effete flouncing away into the sunset.

3. Even the only two people on this board that offer you a sliver of support (Swords and DT) both say that using the term 'imaginary *****phile friend' is not OK. Doesn't this tell you something?

Yes, it tells me that they're used to the conditions of this board being so geared towards hedging your bets and not being offensive that they wouldn't have written it if they shared my viewpoint. I understand mods have to take their initiative from the community, but if that stops us commenting, creating and debating freely, it's a real shame. Especially when I'm seeking only to change opinions rather than hurt people's feelings.

Is anyone gonna tell me why the Islamic deity isn't a *****phile or imaginary?

A child is kidnapped, raped, and murdered. At her funeral, you go up to her grieving parents and point out that before she was killed, she was sexually active. You might be factually correct, but do you feel you are in any way right to say so? And what do you think their reaction should be? Do you think they should nod, thank you for "refusing to accept an untruth", and go on their way?

Willy, that is without doubt the most ridiculous post I have ever seen put up on this or any other Forum in my entire life - and I've visited quite a few Forums.

The fact that you could equate a real life scenario such as that with an on-line discussion where you can come or go as you please, shows that you really do live in a fantasy World.

Give me strength :emoticon-0114-dull:

You beat me to it. If i want to see this s*** i would go over to 'general chat'

West London Willie, the fact you're equating a child's death with the voluntary departure of a fully-grown man from a football forum shows you have a poor understanding of context. I don't see how the child's sexual promiscuity would have any relevance on her death unless it were of an STD, so there'd be no reason for mentioning it. On the other hand, Imaz's faith is key to his reason for leaving the forum, and my argument for why the 'please come back' brigade are wasting their tears.

Please would you c**** just bore off over to 'general chat' where you can all merrily be insulting to each other to your hearts content.
I do find it rather amusing that some people on here think its 'cool' to be insulting and controversial on a football forum when they would be s*** scared to say the same things to someones face.......'keyboard warriors' ?? 'keyboard tossers' more like

Edit - Willy has taken down the offending post to be fair.

(although he seems to be blaming Jerel for him putting it up in the first place which is quite odd)
Judging me by your own standards you prick.

And WTF do you have to do to get a thread closed round here.

By the way, whoever said they took it as a compliment that I visit this place was right to do so. I enjoy the football chat on my own board, but find that the content is more varied on here and there's a lot of personality too.

Shame that people want to limit that by using bans and thread closures.

Hope NorwayRanger's claim he was literally vomiting after having read this thread wasn't true. I've been sick over my keyboard before and it's quite a ghastly task to clean it up afterwards.

Very rarely disagree with you DT but this one is over the mark for me.
I hope everyone has opinions, but combing someones belief with a peado is unacceptable anywhere in the world and on any board.
I got a ban for suggesting another poster liked young kids....think the same should apply here.

Dont care if you or anyone agrees with me. At least be man enough to say it to him when he's here, not in his absense.

From that cowards actions...I'm guessing he's a leeds supporter of the like.

Sadly, one pof my best mates is a yorkshireman and he'd be outraged that someone could post those views in the same post as proudly stating he's a yorkshireman.
Before you ask, we worked together for 8 years and i still visit him in the States when I go over.

Close the post Brix asthis is not only a waste of time..its a disgrace

DT...you have let yourself xdown mate, no matter what your friendship with him is...
I have no friendship with Jerel I don't agree with his view on this matter but i may his next who knows?, I sometimes don't agree with others views ... Live and let live in IMO opinion both Imaz and Jerel are both men.
I respect your comments and passion on this matter but fail to see how i have let myself down

A fair amount of drivel going on here leaving one or two questions to be answered.

First off, there's an AWFUL lot of assumption on here that Imaz is a Muslim. I've been racking my brain and searching his posts on those kind of threads trying to remember him actually confirming that - or even making a stand on religion. Type his name into search and check for yourselves if that's so important to you - but take my advice, never act (or speak) on assumption. Always best to check the facts rather than to speak like a knobhead.

Secondly, if Imaz makes a stand on anything beyond football, it is for the underdog (very British trait that). Like Stan FFS and Queenslander, he is an extremely well travelled and knowledgeable internationalist is what Imaz actually is.

As I said earlier, Imaz PM'd me to say he was sick of being trolled and subtly marginalised by Swords and James in particular. DT's 'joke' about his name sounding like a household detergent or words to that effect can't have helped either. He also put to me a context from his own experience. When in Italy, his Italian-looking son being schooled there ended up getting pissed on in the shower by kids from his own school, simply for being 'different' (in background). How would you feel if that happened to your kid because of his/her parental background? Could this be to his mind what's been going on here?

I said earlier, 'Whilst long experience of this stuff tells me we're about to hear all about the perception I've offered above being completely wrong and I'm totally out of order etc., etc..., I'm simply holding up a mirror and telling it as many of us see it'. So said so done. Rather than humbly taking a little time to get a decent look at the man in the mirror, methinks one or two of you are 'protesting' far too much - and consequently talking complete ****. Much of it has little to offer the purpose of the thread, let alone give meaning to anything of real value that might convince an excellent contributor to return to crease.

I learned a wonderful lesson once when I was studying guitar. One of the most important aspects in music are the opportunities for silence within a melody. Abstinence can make a very powerful statement indeed. Pause for thought.

Finally, or thereabouts, I think it fitting to reflect on Imaz's own words to remind ourselves of his actual agenda, if he had one.

As Watford_R rightly says there are loads of minority leagues. Once lived a year in Barnet and there definitely were Jewish leagues too up that way.

Quite Possibly's comment on middle class values rings true. Not many British Asian cricketers either all things considered. Maybe it's me but communities seem far more separated and judgemental than 15/20 years ago. Lived for three years in Forest Gate back in the early nineties and it seemed far less segregated than today. Too many religious nutters and too many EDL sympathisers make a toxic brew that keeps people sepatated than ever. Sad really, at the end of the day it's our responsibility to deal with the idiots.

Says it all really.

At the end of the day, is there any point in asking Imaz to reconsider? As Mohammed Ali once said on Parkinson, 'when you enter a pit of snakes, does it help to know the majority aren't poisonous?'

FOOTNOTE

I see that the artist now known as Jerel Ifil, who assumes Imaz 'engineered' his own departure, refers to me as Atticus Finch. Yet another veiled put-down but I'll take it as a compliment. However, I wouldn't allow his articulate presentation convince you of his rationale. I spent a number of posts a while back when he was Leeds' mod, encouraging him to change his user name if he wanted to interact with me. What was his user name? Il Duce ffs! He protested that the name didn't mean he's a fascist... but he ended up taking my point and changing it to Loiner (citizen of Leeds). Confused kid or what?

For the third time I will ask for this thread to be closed.
It was started with good intentions but has been hijacked by smart arse ****s.

<applause> Bl**dy well said as always Brix. Far too much bickering and petty school yplayground bullying going on around here at the moment. I know it's the off-season, but that's really no excuse. I hope Imaz decides to come back, but if not then I wish him all the best.

Now bring on the football FFS!

Succinct and to the point. Well put Staines <ok>

I read the threads on the QPR Board pretty often as you have some interesting discussions going on and you have some interesting threads which i enjoy reading.

You always have a couple of morons on most boards on this site. The problem is if the mods allow these users to carry on making abusive posts and taking the piss out of other posters, they will run riot and ruin it for the rest. This is what happened on 606 and now thats been shut down.

No surprise to see that General Chat moron Jerel involved in this. You know what kind of a person he is when he makes posts taking the piss out of football disasters.
