Another day, another "No, seriously, this is Spurs' kit for next season" post... please log in to view this image
The Mirror's reported that Steve Hitching has rejected an offer to become Marseilles' DoF I like to think it's our way of getting back at OM after their summer of dickheadedry with Batshuayi & GKN...
According to leaks, Spurs at home v Norwich first match of the season, at home? Wow, a flying pig has just passed my window. 12:30 kick off, we could be top!!! Reported by the Sun, so take it with a pinch of salt. Wasn’t there an issue with the pitch at WHL where the angle of the stands meant it didn’t get enough sun or something over the summer, so we always asked to be away first so as to ensure more time to get the pitch in good condition? I guess with the retractable pitch at NWHL we can prepare it in other ways now that mean we aren’t restricted in such a way.
The pitch is a good 50m north of the WHL one. However the south stand is at least 50% higher. Perhaps someone with a 'helio tracking' system can tell us how better/worse the new WHL pitch is under summer sunlight exposure.
From my SSC research or avoiding doing anything useful, as Mrs B would have it, the new playing surface is so different as to make previous practices obsolete. The new system is so well drained and allows complete control over watering and the grow lights are on a whole new level of performance but most relevantly, we're going to relay the surface every summer - I recall an accountant saying that there's provision for this every season in the figures put out by the club. So, every August we should start with a perfectly grassed pitch. Hopefully it stabilises better than the first effort. I'm pretty sure that the pitch giving way was the cause of Harry Kane's most recent injury and players were falling over regularly in the early games. Apparently, we understand the problem and expect to solve it.
I think if you go back to the citeh game you will see Harry's injury was caused by 90 kilos of Delph following through on Harry's ankle
Difficult start, even more reason to get transfers completed early. I like the finish though, the NLD might just put the final nail in l'arse's coffin.
I'm glad to get City away over and done with early on. There are no months that really stand out as squeaky bum material, although that mini run at the end of Oct beginning of Nov when we play 3 out of 4 away against Pool, Everton and then the cup final at West Ham looks nasty.
Looked at it again. and you're right. I thought the foot was on the turf and moving before Delph's contact but it all happens pretty much instantaneously. Pitch was still all wrong though. It looked like the grass hadn't rooted anywhere near enough, with players slipping over everywhere in those first few games.
No doubt that the pitch has to bed in , hopefully it will get the best treatment over the closed season( certainly getting well watered this week ) Have you seen the photos of the lighting rigs to assist the growth and at the same time they use large electric fans to blow the blades of grass which aids drainage and at the same time the movement of the grass promotes the root system to strengthen. ( inside info from a groundsman, hope he don't get the bullet)
