No change to seat colours H. Away kit to be blue :)

    Summary of the Meeting:

    http://www.ccsc.co.uk/
    • Cardiff City's home kit next season will be red shirts with a black flash, black shorts and red socks
    • The new badge incorporates a red dragon in a shield, with the words Cardiff City FC, est 1899
    • The away kit will be blue
    • The bluebird will not feature on any replica kit or official badge
    • The seats in the stadium will remain blue
    • A total investment of £100m by Vincent Tan, as equity not debt. This investment is on the proviso of agreement being reach with Langstone (agreement is very close). The investment will wipe out all debt as well as fund a state of the art training complex, stadium expansion to 35k and an increased playing budget
    • The club have no plans to offer refunds to the 16,000 season ticket holders who purchased tickets prior to this announcement
The meeting was told that the change to red kit and Welsh dragon badge was non-negotiable and there was no viable alternative for the Board but to accept the proposals as the club could not survive financially without the investment.

Any hint on the deal with the egg chasers? There was 17 years left on that lease at £700k pa. I suspect they've done a deal for half that and paying on the drip.

As for red seats, I did read that they won't be changed from blue.

Maybe if we play in red we'll get more luck with referee's decisions!!

Hmmm, no change to seat colours, perhaps they're hedging their bets or more likely parking this until the stadium size is increased when they will do the whole stadium - having ridden through the intitial storm it will be easier and more cost effective to do it then.

H - liked the comment about Boro and Wurzels seats. <ok> Could add Ar5ena1 to that list if Spurs get 3rd and Chelski win the Champions League.

it has to be said, there has been some breathtakingly ignorant responses from this. from WUMs on here, fair enough, you expect it.

but i was listening to talksport this morning to hear them take a call from a cardiff fan, the presenter alan green opens by saying, 'so, the new owners are just coming in and they want to rebrand the club, what do you think?' implying they've just come in and one of the first things they are doing is this, or something along those lines <doh>

Mix it all together & the big picture is pretty bright . No debt , huge training upgrade , bigger stadium , money for players , I wouldn't like the " take it or leave it " tone but over all , this is pretty good news . Fresh start on many levels might not be bad . I never for a minute figured the Malaysians would bring this kind of investment , but here they are . Take the money & run on , the opportunity to change back in the future is always around the corner if need be ." Selling your soul " that's a laugh , the leagues don't have any soul for over 20 years now .... IMO

Cracker...you have hit the nail on the head. What are we meant to do here really? We can jump up and down, threaten protests, and such but the reality this is going to happen. So basically we have to take a leap of faith and trust these guys. At least the debt is gone and is not just being transferred.

    Never boring supporting Cardiff!

Bit of a wind up on your part.
    1. Vincent Tan is worth billions.
    2. He's a business man - self-made.
    3. He cannot be so stupid as to think you can make big money out of a football club these days (look at Chelsea, ManYoo, Blackburn, Man City, Liverpool, Brum, Pompey .. the list is endless). QPR lost £26 million last year. You (the Jacks) lost £8 million.

The only way you can make any cash out of a club is by doing what Risdale and Hammam do /did and cut themselves a slice of the action. But that's petty cash from the till compared to Vincent's billions - do you really think he'd be bothered with that?

you will be known as wrexham reserves one fan said on talksport...that did make me laugh though as he had a point. you will be playing in wrexham's colours with an identical wrexham badge and as wrexham are the official club in wales who play in them colours and have always had a dragon on their badge then it wont be long before fans of other clubs will be calling you wrexham reserves......and all because some malaysian is superstitious and dont like blue....as if that makes any difference.....you could not make it up you honestly couldn't...If anybody ever tried to change the swans identity he would be hung drawn and quartered....

If somebody had of come to Swansea when you were about to go into admin for the second time and said "Here is 100 million but you have to be the Swansea Dragons and play in red or you will be liquidated" I am sure most of you would be cheering the Dragons right now :)

Very easy to make these sweeping comments when it is not happening to you.

I'm sure Tan isn't expecting to make a profit out of Cardiff directly. He will be expecting spin offs so he makes his cash elsewhere. He'll have a business plan.

He owns a TV company so will want to sell the games in Malaysia; he owns a sports kit manufacturer, so will be wanting to make and sell replica kits; other schemes. To do deals with clubs that he didn't own would mean sharing profits and offering a competative deal. If he owns the club he's providing kit for, I'm sure he'll negotiate a better deal with himself than he would otherwise.

If Cardiff break even and he makes another fortune (well, by my standards anyway) on the fringes I'm sure he'll be happy. He won't need to syphon money out of the club directly.

Cardiff get a good sponsorship deal sell lots of kit and Tan makes both ways.

I think the fact that he didn't jump in from the start but has been manouvering himself to this position over 3 years suggests he's in it for the long haul. It's not viewed as a get rich(er) quick scheme.

All speculation of course, he may just rape and pillage us. Time will tell.

How much money do you think he will make from shirt sales in the Far East. I'm sure Man U have large profits from shirt sales.

hey he has been there for a few seasons now and if he is not there to make a few quid then why all this crap of identity change.....he should be putting his money where his mouth is and buy better players as that is the only way you can get success..not the bull of changing shirt colours and more alarmingly the shirt badge to a dragon....we already have a club with a long history in wales who play in red and wear a dragon with pride....how can you shout "come on you bluebirds" at matches......its a joke that will make cardiff a laughing stock in the football world....any malaysian fans will think your colour blind and off your heads shouting come on you Bluebirds....sorry Red dragons.......<laugh>

    Dai,

It's not the 1st time we've changed, the Club is more important than colours and badges.

same badge i wore on my scout uniform when i was a kid ..<laugh> what is going to happen about the saying.."once a bluebird always a bluebird" .that will go out the window as you will be sharing with wrexham as "once a red dragon always a red dragon"...sorry it dont make sense and should not happen. on the lunch time news not only is there an uproar with the fans but past players are furious about it also......to lose the clubs identity is very sad and unnecessary....its success on the pitch that counts and they are asking a to higher price, they have been at cardiff a while now so why have they not put any significant money into the club to help to get the club to the premiership. your selling your soul to the devil if this happens....

    Which devil?

Again, what happens will happen. If there is an outpouring of rage, and the owners leave, fine then we will deal with that.
If the majority accept it, then fine we will deal with that.

Don't come on here Dai trying to tell me or anybody else that we are all okay with it. First if we have two options, take the money or go bust, I know what I would choose. Second, the full story doesn't come out until Saturday. I hope there is an option 3.

As I said you before (and another Swans poster agreed), if when you were in admin for the second time, somebody offered you 100 million, I wonder if you would have said no.

At the end of the day it looks like we have two choices.

    1) Change strip etc and become solvent.

    2) Let the backers go hang and go bust, pay our creditors 1p in the £ and re start in the Conference.
Things have changed since the Swans done this we would not get of so lightly.
