Lennon isn't the problem... we are

That kind of stuff doesn't just pander to the lowest common denominator, it gives a legitimacy to lamebrains on either side of this country's divide.

That just isn't wise. We all have to be more responsible and careful about what we say and how we say it. What happened at Tynecastle must have inflicted some degree of psychological hurt and the Celtic manager will have to ask himself if holding down the job of his dreams is really worth the risk.

It's easy for me to say it is because I can't begin to understand or feel what Lennon is going through but he must have doubts. And so should every Scot.

We need to question seriously whether or not enough is being done to tackle sectarianism which continues to simmer and which every now and then splurts and spits.

We also have to ask ourselves what on earth can be done to save our game when it is continually scarred and gouged by those who put the mental in fundamentalists.

Who would want to sponsor Scottish football when a manager is being attacked? What decent parents would want to take their kids to watch? What better, more lucrative environment would welcome any of our teams?

I don't know if he will but if Lennon decides he can't take any more risks and walks a large chunk of this country's credibility will also be lost.

Too late then to point fingers at the other side. A bigot is a bigot no matter the colour of his scarf. Let's try to break down the barriers instead of vaulting them to get at someone who is after all just a football manager.

Jim Traynor, the Chief Sports Editorof the Daily Record has a short memory.

Loathe as I am to click on the link, I did. The top comment by "VeryPoorJournalism" about the Huns fans is absolutely correct......

Although each and every one of you remains a despicable bastard.
