What baffles me that is that some of the hand-wringing offendees were only too happy to laugh at Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson and tsunami jokes. Who decides what is offensive and what isn't?

Even putting aside those "issues" I just can't see what's wrong with that thread that it needed to be closed down. Unless I'm missing something?

I've already admitted my double standards. I've already admitted that all I want is an easy life.

Why can't you ****s give me an easy life?

The words 'velocity', 'rate of travel', 'hurry' and 'quickness' have all now been banned.

It is also no longer permissible to quote the Airplane line 'What's your vector, Victor?'

I think this one is too close to the bone with a lot of people. I suppose I could imagine how I would feel if I read a couple of huns slagging off Tommy Burns on the day he died - it wouldn't seem like craic, it would like a bunch of bitter twisted ****s getting the boot in.

These things can only really be joked about when all the people involved have a disconnect from the situation. Again I realise I have double standards, but at the end of the day I'm trying to hold the community together and these jokes are certainly not helping.
