To be honest, I had erased him from memory until just now. Since those days I now have a policy to wait for the news to appear on the official site and that's it!
The speculation is half the fun though (although now we're skint, there won't be much about incoming, more about out-goings) Luongo has been named in the Ozzie squad for Russia - a decent group phase for him, and he'll be difficult to keep hold of....
I return to Paweł Wszołek who the season before last, was virtually "the first name on the team-sheet". He was a resonable winger who could actually made a decent cross, which at that time it was very "significant". This season, he has mainly played as a Wing-Back with mixed successes and a clear loss of attacking flair and confidence. Recently, he has even played as a standard Right-Back. A few hours ago, the Polish "large squad" for the World Cup has been announced, but without a call-up for Paweł. Although recently he has only been a squad player, it must be betterly dissapointing for him, and possibly he feels hard done by the Club? Now I wonder how this may impact his QPR career, especially with a new manager. Either we may see him wanting a transfer, or hopefully he may wish to prove himself at the Club as a winger. I will watch to see how this develops.
Wszołek had a good end to 2016/17 and a decent start to 2017/18 but he lost his way over the winter months and was injured for part of it as I recall. I actually felt that Holloway was a little slow in leaving him out but once he was dropped to the bench the youngsters introduced into the team made it really difficult to get back into the side. I like Pawel as a hard working squad member but he is extraordinarily one dimensional in his play.
True and I fear it will be difficult for him to compete with the youngsters. Thus I post on the clear-out thread.
Yes, I think that's a sound assessment. He doesn't have real pace and he doesn't have the skill set to regularly beat a man; it makes you wonder what made him so good for a while! What really let him down this season was an incredible reluctance to try to take a man on, even when the situation was screaming out for him to do so. I'm glad he's in the squad and he may come good again but he needs the right sort of coaching and encouragement to move his game forwards.
Shame for Pawel. I think he is a valuable player for us and very under-rated. He has played right wing, right wing back, right back, left midfield, center midfield, and both left and right side of a front 3, striker too for a while, all under Holloway, and managed them all really. Great for us but obviously not for his World Cup place. I certainly hope he stays with us.
