I've got no complaints - he ticks all of the boxes including not being a MLS 3rd division manager.

Lets see how his backroom staff will look - who will he bring in or will he retain every/anyone?

Just found out that he used to work with Steve Walsh at Chelsea, was the guy that brought Huth to the UK and managed Cambiasso before.

This might work out well...

Perhaps the Preki business was a stroke of genius by our PR people. Compared to him, Ranieri looks like a fantastic appointment.

That's true. Could be a good omen for Shakey/Walsh staying.

Some fans believe that they were the true genius behind Pearson, so that may get put to the test now.
 
... he has managed in Italy, Spain, UK and France ... very successfully... I'm more than happy to give this guy a go ... who brought Lampard to Chelsea? ... and Huth ... John Terry first made a name under ... yup ... but best of all in Italy when he took over at Napoli he was faced with the prospect of having to replace one Diego Armando Maradona .... he failed miserably ... seemed to think some untried youth by the name of Gianfranco Zola might do it .... oh but wait ... he can also claim victory against Mourinho ... that is select company ... we should be excited by this ... if he manages to do for us what he has done in every league he has visted so far we will be knocking on Europe's door .... enjoy the ride.... welcome Claudio

Very happy with this. We need a reality check and think back to some of the managers that were on our shorlists in years gone by. Very lucky to have a manager like Ranieri. Wish him all the luck in the world, now sign up Cambiasso.

The majority of his achievements were over a decade ago.

Barring Monaco, where he was given a shed load (doesn't guarantee success I know) of money. He's not had the best of times in recent years.

He seems to have an eye for talent though. Kondogbia and Rodriguez both sold for huge profit.

Great appointment in my opinion.
Will always have a soft spot for him as a Chelsea fan, he was treated harshly by Roman, sacked after finishing 2nd, with a new squad expensively assembled.
But then we got Jose to replace him so I cannot complain too much.

He was nicknamed the Tinkerman at Chelsea, mainly because he had an expensive squad full of big ego's and had to juggle their play time.
But his win percentage in the PL was something like 54% or something like that (and that includes Pre-Roman), so, with all due respect, for a club of Leicester's standing, I would call this a very good appointment.

The way Bodanki speaks, it sounds like he had to juggle the egos rather than "tinker" for a better strategy.

Gotta also keep in mind that Pearson last season was constantly tinkering his side until he stumbled on a winning formula.

Well said Wiz, that was one of the things which annoyed a lot of fans last season, so nothing new if CR does it too. We don't know what was in the player contracts at Chelsea though - he may have *had* to play some of them in a minimum number of games.

Having met the Leicester City squad on Monday afternoon, Claudio will oversee his first training session on Tuesday morning – assisted by Craig Shakespeare, Steve Walsh and the existing City backroom team – and will remain with the group for the remainder of their training camp in Bad Radkersburg.

The opinions vary from "Well that's us relegated then!" to "Amazing appointment, this guy can take us to the next level!"

There aren't really many inbetween either!

This appointment truly has split opinion!

... typical Leicester fans .. the owners stated objective is to take us to the 'next level'... Ranieri's CV shows a proven track record of doing that ... in any other industry such a CV would not be questioned...

<laugh> I can't be the only one in the middle?!
I just don't see us progressing under Ranieri, but I don't see us going down either.

It's a depressing appointment for me. Very Sven like.
