There's always some prat...
With respect I feel that you misinterpret my original post. I did not state just 'Ian Ashby' alone and I was not suggesting that he was underrated. My post when read in it's entirety suggested that Ashby was not necessarily a particularly gifted footballer but his undoubted talents were in influence and organisation etc, and that perhaps he was not the best player we have ever had as suggested in some quarters. When he was absent the team was never the same without his influence as was the same with full back and captain Andy Davidson a similar type of character from a different era.

Andy Flounders...on a goals per games played in the 80s he rates #1 of all our players since WWII...wasn't quick or skilful but he certainly knew how to score, averaging almost 1 every 2 games...but we let him go to Scunthorpe, where he scored almost 100 goals in 4 seasons, far too soon. But he never made the headlines.

Andy Flounders was one of our most OVERrated players ever !!

Just playing hull city monopoly with our lass, she just bought boaz, best city keeper ever, never got the recognition he deserved

It's funny that you happened to bring that game up today, because only earlier on today I re-discovered it in the attic! Ah, memories. And yes I would agree with what you say about Myhill, too.

Agreed.
Great goalscoring stats, typical Hull larker, no ego (just like Andy Saville), played alongside Mutrie, Edwards and Whitehurst (all bigger 'personalities') so tended not to get noticed.

But the stats speak for themselves. Eat your heart out Alexander, Dudfield etc

Haven't gone through the whole thread, but I've got to agree with Bobby Doyle- travesty he got assaulted as he was running our midfield for a period the season before.
I would also stump up Andy Flounders. Natural born goalscorer who scored goals wherever he went. Never really seemed to be warmed to by City fans, but I just thought he was the classiest finisher, bar Edwards, that I'd seen.

So is this thread about those derided on these boards and target of the boo boys because they aren't as skilful as their peers. They have not so obvious qualities, always put in 110%, and will fill any position.
From Mally Lord to David Meyler

Or is it some of our gems who the rest of the world didn't appreciate, and so never quite realised their potentials.
Waggy? I'd add Chris Galvin, maybe it's cos it coincides with when I started going regularly by myself.
Loved the shuffle

Was this Boaz Myhill's best ever save?

You decide....
Possibly one of the most important in our history. We were 2 up, I'm sure I remember a better save before we scored? Anyway if we conceded then and lost, what would the years in between have bought? We overspent and had an aged squad, would we ever have got promoted that first time??
