HITC are linking us and Ipswich (who are looking like losing Bialkowski to Swansea) with Sheffield United goalkeeper George Long.
He spent last season on loan at AFC Wimbledon, playing all but one league game. 6'4 and has played for England U20s. I know it's not a massive priority but he's only 24 and he's played 169 first team games across League 1, League 2, the Championship (1 appearance) and the SPL.

So Adkins is allegedly interested in George Long at Sheff Utd, they loaned him out to AFC Wimbledon last year as he was 4th choice keeper for the Blades.
Does Adkins not rate his No1 or does he not rate Burton and Mannion to push Marshall for the 1st choice keeper spot?

HITC, The72, FootballLeague etc are 87.3% made up nonsense, that’s why I never include them on the first post rumours until they’ve been backed up by someone more reliable.

Isn’t that the long approach? That’s our standard transfer policy! Why do it quickly!
Lazy use of percentages too...is it rounded up from 87.25% or down from 87.34% or in between?

Barnsley's Tom Bradshaw is set for a medical at Millwall, having agreed an £800,000 fee and a FOUR year deal.
Assuming Long is coming in for a low fee, I also assume he's intended to be understudy No.1.

One of them will almost certainly go out on loan, presumably Mannion as Burton is seen as the more highly rated of the pair.
Really? Is that current ability or potential?
Has Mannion's development plateaued somewhat?
I think they wil both go out but short term loans that allow 24hr recall
On second thoughts, how old is Burton? They may just want him to develop and learn from the senior guys here with a view to loan next season
Well I don't know what you measure potential in, other than "if he's that good now, how good will he be at thirty?" He's a good keeper, but given that Burton is the one that's been appearing on the bench for the first team, training with the first team etc, I'd wager he was more highly rated. There's no doubting Mannion's ability, I just think Adkins thinks Burton is better.
