Outside of his time with us, he's scored 63 goals in 132 games, almost a goal every other game.

That's what happens when you play a striker up front, rather than sticking him out wide.
I'm sure he was given enough chances for us up front, he's dropped a level and now scoring for fun, good on him you could never doubt his workrate.

Why the hell are they off to Leicester? :emoticon-0112-wonde

Clear blue skies, sunshine and rising temperatures provided a traditional backdrop to the opening day of pre-season training as Head Coach Nigel Adkins welcomed his players back to Cottingham on Monday.

Plenty of testing is set to take place in the first couple of days as part of a detailed schedule put in place and Adkins is delighted to have his players back at work.

“You can pretty much always guarantee that it’s going to be red hot on the first day of pre-season and that is certainly the case this year,” said Adkins.

“We’ve got two days of testing here in Cottingham and that is really important from a medical and sports science point of view because it gives us the parameters that we’re starting off with.

“We’re then heading away for a training camp in Leicestershire later this week and that is when the footballs will start to come out for us to start building fitness from that point of view.

“Then it’s another week in Cottingham before we go out to Portugal where we’ll have our first couple of pre-season games.

“It’s great to be back and the training ground is looking great thanks to the groundstaff who have been working hard since the end of last season to get everything ready.

“We’re all looking forward to getting started.”

Hull City boss Nigel Adkins talks Nedum Onuoha deal, Boaz Myhill rumours and latest transfer position

Hull City boss Nigel Adkins hopes to conclude a deal to make Nedum Onuoha his second summer recruit after admitting talks have been held with the out-of-contract defender.

Adkins welcomed back his City squad to pre-season training this morning with numbers badly depleted by a summer exodus from the KCOM Stadium.

The departure of seven senior players has so far only been countered by the arrival of Eric Lichaj from Nottingham Forest but Adkins also wants to add the experience of Onuoha.

The 31-year-old is a free agent following his exit from QPR at the end of last season and has held discussions over a summer move to East Yorkshire.

"I’ve spoken with Nedum and, like anyone in his position, he’ll see what’s out there that’s best for him. But we had a very good conversation," Adkins told the Mail.

"I want things to be done. I’ve been trying to get players in to start now and I want us to start building. Pre-season is very important for that but we know he’s a good character with experience of being in the Championship and an experience of leading teams.

"He’s at a stage of his career where as a free agent he’s got to decide what he wants to do next.

"I’ve had a conversation with him and the football club have done the negotiations in terms of wages, I don’t get involved in that."

Adding Onuoha to the ranks alongside Lichaj would bolster a defensive line lacking numbers but Adkins has dismissed speculation linking City with a move for Boaz Myhill.

The three-time promotion-winner at the KCOM was released by West Brom last week but Adkins has suggested David Marshall will get the chance to fill Allan McGregor’s boots in 2018-19.

"We’ve not had contact with Boaz," added Adkins. "I’m very happy with David Marshall."

City’s need for new bodies is clear in a summer that has seen six different players reject the chance to stay with the club and walk away in pursuit of a fresh challenge for 2018-19.

At least six more new signings will be needed to satisfy Adkins and he insists there has been plenty of activity behind the scenes in an another crucial recruitment drive.

"I’ve met several players,” he said. "There’s been offers on the table for several players. Transfer fees.

"We’ve negotiated with agents in terms of wage demands but there’s been players we’ve wanted to bring in where we can’t get anywhere near at this moment in time.

"That might change further down the line as players look to get the best deals for themselves.

"I wanted to get it early but the fact of the matter is that we’re now working to get players in as soon as possible.

"Players will start to realise they need to get themselves fixed up as well. Maybe they're waiting to find out if they’ll be wanted at the clubs they’re at."

Ha ha. Penny starting to drop Nige?

Anyone of us could have told players wouldn't be 'through the door' and 'in the building'.

Last contract speaks volumes .. players who are out of contract and free agents seem to be the target. Even they don't want to enter the madhouse .. this is gonna be a long season I suspect !
