At least he knows we actually want him, we bid £1m for him last summer.

Which was 40% of his actual transfer fee to Middlesbrough (£2.5m). So we weren’t actually that serious. I suspect more foul play from our odious owners. Submitting low bids knowing we wouldn’t get anywhere close to signing him.

How did sunderland sell and we cant or havent

Didnt they have more debt than us

They're certainly odious owners, but they did buy several players for more than that last summer.

Some were part of a transfer out Robertson/Stewart and Clucas/Kingsley. Both of which were staggeringly bad deals. Clucas not so horrific as we got a decent fee - Robertson deal with Stewart on the other hand was appalling business.

We paid money for Dicko, Toral, Mazuch and McDonald - but given what we took on transfers out plus parachute payments- it was paltry.

The 40,000 seater stadium probably had something to do with it. All your buying at City now is a council rent book and a list of stadium repairs to do, plus propping up a rugby league club. Wonder their isn't a queue a mile long.
