The point is, with a squad as small as ours no one is expendable. It's just not feasible to go and replace a whole squad every year, least of all for a club with the negotiating ability of the Allams.

Of course Clark has weaknesses just like everyone else, but we shouldn't be losing solid, dependable young squad players by choice. Some players go on to bigger things and you can't stop them, but it's utterly ridiculous how this club keeps shooting itself in the foot every summer by clearing out a load of steady players and then needing to sign 10-15 new ones which obviously isn't realistic. The most annoying thing is that it's obviously a cost thing and the only concern is keeping the squad as small as they can get away with - yet many people continue to actually support this strategy as if it's a wise football-based decision. It started with Rosenior and McShane and it's continued every year since.

Particularly home grown young players, which is the most disappointing aspect for me.

Some of the Peterborough fans think us and Sunderland are chasing their 6ft 5 CB Ryan Tafazolli. As he'd cost more than 100k, it's safe to assume he'll be a Mackem soon.

Some of that rovveram lot look. Big lads Sterling. Any worth having?

I've always rated Will Vaulks, he did well in the Championship last season and he's been one of the best in League 1 this season. Jon Taylor has done alright there too. Failing that, the Chuckle Brothers would be up for it.

The best player I've seen in League 1 is Jon Nolan at Shrewsbury. He used to be at Grimsby and was a bit crap. Now he's changed his game and he's much more dynamic.

To be fair I could always see Larsson going, hes been our best midfielder, very replacable maybe not with the clowns in charge. Making the release of Meyler even more baffling. So we need a new backline, two new midfield enforcers, maybe another and a couple of wingers, and a decent goalscorer. Oh and pace, somewhere.

Not to worry, Will Keane will fire us to the promised land, any odds on us going down?

Unfortunately its not in the slightest bit baffling. You have to look at everything from a point of view of asset stripping and minimising costs. Then its not so baffling.

The problem yet again is the Allams not offering new terms until the players final year. If we offered Clark a new deal last season before he really broke into the team he would have bitten our hand off at a new deal.

It isn't even the final year, it's the final weeks every time. I'd love some justification as to why we do that, but you just know it isn't going to happen. Especially given that we obviously wanted to keep Bowen so we offered a deal straight away.

I heard from a close source of Max Clark he wants £8k per week and has been offered £4k

Well **** me. £8k x 4 = £32k per month, that's £384k a year.

Local lad .... home grown .... academy ..... income tax .... short career and all that bollocks. He's a young lad playing for a ****e Championship team. Even at £4k per week that is an eye watering amount of money.

****ing hell, the game has gone mad.

That's because his contract presented the Allams with another potential £10m asset.

I agree with this to some degree. If Forest or another club offer him more or the same he'd take it...who wouldn't.

I don't get letting Clark go.

We are letting a decent full back go who is settled in the squad and needs replacing. Even if it's a freebie it's a gamble and signing on fees, agents fees etc...

£8k’s Premier League promising youth player money, he’s not worth anything like that.

I think you would be surprised.

Seen three League One youngsters (under 23) on 4k a week with less than 20 appearances between them this season. One is at a very small club too. Also their contracts with New Balance are ridiculous. 10k a year sponsorship deal for a league one bench warmer!
