Because the club isn't really worth anything after this last Parachute Payment. With no solid infrastructure to sell to anyone we would have to rely on the value of the young players increasing which isn't a cert. There are way more attractive clubs out there than ours so making us debt free is really the only trump card they have.
Anyone know if have Viking been sold down the river for 2018/2019? With the lad Burns Swann coming back into the starting line-up?
See I don't know what evidence we have to suggest we won't be in a relegation battle. We have bought untried and untested players who could be worth nothing it's just as likely that happens than they turn into superstars. I do I want us to spend millions and millions? No I want us to show some intention of try to move up the table and battle at the top end. We will have a top 6 income but probably a bottom 6 wage bill. Read any of my most and I agree with sustainability what we are doing now is going beyond that point. At no point did I say we should be Forest. I just disagree with all of this optimism which has no basis based on the unproven players we have signed. If we sell Bowen for say 10-15m before August without replacing him and bringing in a striker I reckon we will go down. But that's fine as it's sustainable. I do believe in bringing in players who are younger with things to prove but that shouldn't be the only signings we make. At the minute it is.
At least getting some defenders in earlier might mean we've got a more organised defence than at the start of last season when we had to wait for the Slutsky loans.
Probably bollocks, but... Pete O'Rourke @SportsPeteO Brighton have rejected a bid from Hull for Ollie Norwood. Fulham are still interested in the Northern Ireland international following his loan spell last season. #BHAFC #hcafc #FFC #GAWA
He went from Reading to Brighton ahead of the 2016-17 season, played one season, then spent last season on loan at Fulham.
