A bit of a harsh assesment but understandable. Cisse is in one of those spells many strikers have where nothing is going right. He seems to me to be more of a finisher where Ba is more of an all rounder and sadly at the moment he is not getting his finishing right which unfortunately then makes him try too hard instead of relaxing and finishing instictively so therefore he gets worse. A downward spiral. He needs a bit of luck at the moment and can only play his way out of this which gives the awkward situation of keep playing an out of form, non scoring striker. Confident he will come good again but when who knows. Would definately start him on wednesday.

Once he gets his first he will be laughing. He scored on his debut and never looked back. Wonder if things might of been different for him last season if he never scored that goal against villa. Anyway, one thing for sure, he is a deadly finisher and has proven that with confidence, the opposing goal is not safe from anywhere on the pitch. He will get there eventually. He's not the only one who has looked a little rusty so far this season and I don't just mean at the Toon.

Chelsea away comes to mind.

All players go through dips in form at some point, for strikers it is more profound as they are in the spotlight and when they get it wrong it's in the spotlight. Cisse is well off form at the moment and has been since the start of the season, this stuff happens. Let's not forget the form, skills and class he showed last season.
He will find that form again, we as supports of the Club and therefore all players contained within it, must keep faith and "support" them through thick and thin, that includes Cisse, most of all, because he has shown what he can do, and he will show it again.

I think it's just the weight of expectation that's doing him in.

He scored, what, 15 goals in 3 months? So people have been saying "Imagine what he could do in a whole season?!" and I think this has gotten to him. He could end up going through a drought like Torres' if people don't ease up on him

Leave him alone and he will come home, scoring his goals behind him.

Ease up on him? No one's actually been particularly hard on him, but he's there to score goals and he's not doing it. Anyone else who'd been as bad at their job as he's been recently would have been fired by now.

I wouldn't go that far but he'll score a hatrick on Wednesday and this thread will be deleted along with some humble pie <ok>

This..... He should come good. The point I would like to make is the fact that although his finishing is a little poor atm he is still getting in the positions. He has also been ill.

The problem is Cabaye

Hatem has been the only player creating chances, and the good ones have fallen to Ba so far.

Cabaye has looked poor so far this season, and that lack of creativity is costing the front men.

Cabaye's fault he missed a penalty and that header? Not to mention his fluffed volley vs Everton. Cisse's had the chances. This is somewhat positive news, though - one thing that's always said is you're only in trouble if a)you're not winning ugly (we are), b) you're not creating chances (we are).

Speaking of Cabaye, isn't the problem that Tiote's been out, limiting Cabaye's freedom? Anita hasn't done enough stepping in and Pards then had the complication of losing Simpson, meaning Perch was in demand to cover both slots.

yeah, good points well made.

Quite simple really, he's going through a spell all strikers experience. I have no worries about him at all, I've watched football long enough to not panic after a handful of games. Plus he has had a good half dozen good chances he'll stick away normally. I'd be more worried if he wasn't getting the chances. One thing for sure though is that he was never continuing at the same rate as last year. Only two players in the world manage those kind of ratios in the top leagues and they'd both cost you the thick end of 100m! Just get behind him and the goals will come, its natural to him. That he is drawing such ire is more to do with the modern football fan and their lack of patience.

Cabaye is just behind. You can't play 20mins of pre season football and be match fit. It just doesn't work like that. I understand why Pardew has elected to let him get his match sharpness in competitive games. He is looking longer term and the bigger picture. We have been below our best so far because the majority of our spine is injured or out of form.

I suppose it shows how far we have come in a short space of time that we have all these little gripes. Cisse hasn't scored for a few games and is a bit out of nick, and suddenly he's ****e. The world is gonna end because we haven't signed a centre back or right back. We're playing **** and not dominating every game. Its unreal, we were only promoted two seasons ago! We've lost one in 5 and played three of the expected top 8 in Spurs, Chelsea and Everton. Two of those away. Quite happy myself.

Spot on especially about the scoring rate!!! We should just sing his name constantly till he scores, show him some love and the goals will start flying in again.
