In fact, solo female singers in those days were a rare commodity?
Dusty, Cilla, Sandie Shaw and Petula Clark, of the recognised 'old school' unless I missed somebody?

No disrespect, but of the four, Cilla Maria Veronica would be last on my list.

You can still be a decent human being and just keep your gob shut.
Apologies for appearing flippant, but for me Paco de Lucia, who helped reshape contemporary music by giving flamenco an acceptable and 'commercial' face went last year with hardly a whimper.
Imho, he deserved a 'send off' more than a a singer turned game show hostess.
Just how it is, sorry <ok>

Ffs what does it matter if her music was ****e or her accent fake etc etc

You can still be a decent human being and just keep your gob shut. It's still a life over regardless

Indeed...As John Donne said in 'Meditation XVII...

“Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee.”

That's my point tho one life shouldn't be any more or less important than another. So because she was in public view it's OK to slander the woman when she's not even buried?

If for whatever reason it doesn't bother you, you're not a fan or a critic etc there's power in silence.

Look at it this way, not so much these days sadly but it does still happen what do you do if you see a funeral procession? Some people still stop for a second or get out of the way etc.

Maybe it's just old fashioned I was brought up to value everyone & to show respect where it's due. If it's not something others believe in that's where keeping your gob shut comes in.

I hated Thatcher with a passion BUT if I'd been on her route I'd have kept quiet.

Sorry for rambling on

Intriguing that the mere mention of Clodagh Rodgers should wake you up welly, but welcome back.
I hope we both have successful seasons <ok>

I was quoting John Donne mate, but nevertheless, in the spirit of which your post was intended, I wish you well for next season too.

Yes, it is perfectly OK to say what you think of her.

I'm sorry for your rambling also. The conversation has moved onto far more interesting things.

And you also managed to quote Jon Dunn, albeit unknowingly. (C'est moi)
As Mike Myers once said 'it's good to be me'.
Sharing a name with a metaphysical poet and an ex radio 2 DJ - how awesome is that? :emoticon-0105-wink:

Well not necessarily 'unknowingly', I know who you are mate, I've seen you about on Twitter, on the NCFC football posts and all that...<laugh>
