Chris Rigg could become youngest player in Sunderland's history with debut against Birmingham City

Sunderland teenage sensation Chris Rigg could become the youngest player in the club's history tomorrow. Rigg and fellow teenager Tom Watson are both in line to be included in the Sunderland squad for tomorrow night's Championship game against Birmingham City.

The highly-rated duo have been training with Tony Mowbray's first team and could be named in the matchday squad for the trip to St Andrew's. Mowbray has a number of fitness concerns heading into the game.

……

Rigg only turned 15 in June. Should he take to the pitch tomorrow night, he will become the youngest player in Sunderland's history, beating by 39 days the record of goalkeeper Derek Forster, who was only 15 years and 185 days old when he replaced Jimmy Montgomery in goal in 1964.

Interesting. I wonder if we have so many injuries that it's necessary or if it's part of a strategy to boost the levels of compensation for them when they inevitably get poached.

I mentioned the other day and got slated for it, but I can’t remember us having this many injuries under Neil. TM must have them running ragged.
Of course it's Mowbray's fault. How thick does anyone have to be to think every issue at the club is down to one man?

Maybe they have just been training with he first team to fill out the numbers during training and give them a look at what they can work towards, but will be no where near playing?

Theres rumours online that Mowbray and Pritch have had a bust up. Probably a load of shyte like
I said after reading Mowbray on Pritchard, the article you posted mate, I was worried all was not well. I wouldnt be too surprised to see Pritch leave in Jan, and dont be surprised if it is too Stoke. Personally think we can cope without him and his overall form has dropped off.

Yes it has massively and he rarely gets passed 80mins.
Wed need to find a good replacement for him though, because I'd hate to think we're relying on Embleton and a 15 year old.
