Chris Ramsey admits to feeling the pressure as QPR boss after defeat at Derby County Queens Park Rangers slumped to 1-0 loss by Derby County Back-to-back defeats have left QPR six points off Championship play-offs Chris Ramsey admits expectation at QPR higher than previously thought By Pa Reporter Published: 00:43 GMT, 4 November 2015 | Updated: 00:43 GMT, 4 November 2015 QPR head coach Chris Ramsey admitted the pressure is growing after his team lost 1-0 at Derby who celebrated their eighth win in 10 matches. There has been speculation about Ramsey's position and that is likely to increase after an Andreas Weimann goal condemned Rangers to a second away defeat in five days and left them six points adrift of the top six. The game started badly for Derby who lost left-back Craig Forsyth with what looked a serious injury in the 21st minute but they responded by creating the better chances in the first half with Chris Martin just failing to head in a free-kick in the 38th minute. please log in to view this image QPR boss Chris Ramsey looks on with concern during his side's 1-0 loss at Derby County please log in to view this image Karl Henry (20) and James Perch (24) look on dejected following Derby's opening goal QPR are now 13th and six points off the play-offs Derby started the second half strongly and after Jacob Butterfield rattled a post, Weimann beat Robert Green from 15 yards in the 51st minute although Rangers felt Richard Keogh handled before he passed to the former Aston Villa forward. Green kept Rangers in the game by parrying a fierce Butterfield drive and the visitors rarely threatened to deny Derby before James Perch was sent off for a second yellow card in the 90th minute. Ramsey said: 'I would say you are always going to be under pressure as a manager when you are not winning. We can see bigger and better managers than me in the papers lately are under pressure, people who have won trophies and European Cups. 'The fans would want us to be winning week in, week out but it has to be said we've changed direction from what we decided at the start of the season and so the expectations are a little bit higher than initially expected. 'I thought we deserved more tonight, we were more than an equal match for them and obviously very, very disappointed with the ref's decision with the goal for not giving us a handball because at that stage the game was pretty even. 'We also thought we should have had a penalty and at this moment we are having a hard time but we've got to keep believing in what we are doing, we've shown we can perform as well as the top teams.' please log in to view this image Andreas Weimann celebrates his goal in front of Derby County fans at the iPro Stadium please log in to view this image Derby boss Paul Clement applauds Rams fans at the final whistle and was encouraged by his side's showing Derby head coach Paul Clement believes his team could really be going places. 'Everyone is pulling together and I've got a really good feel about this group,' he said. 'The team spirit, the cohesiveness, and the understanding of the tactics are growing all the time and the players are showing so many different qualities. They can grind out difficult games, won't get bullied by any team, can play good football, and can defend and keep clean sheets. 'It's good and we've got to keep it going and that's the test in this league. That's four home games on the bounce that we've won and we're confident we can go to any ground and win because our record shows that.' The only worry for Clement was Forsyth's injury and he admitted: 'He's injured his knee and it could be a bad one. We won't know until it's been scanned but it could be serious.'
QPR trio needed a rest – Ramsey By James Ross 04/11/2015 please log in to view this image Chris Ramsey said he left Tjaronn Chery, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Massimo Luongo out of the QPR side against Derby because all three were showing signings of fatigue. Rangers were beaten 1-0 by the Rams and are now 13th in the Championship table, having won only two of their last 10 matches. “Chery has probably been shell-shocked by the Championship and it’s intensity and the fact that you’re playing so many games in such a short space of time,” Ramsey said. “We’ll wait for him to freshen up and Jay has also played an amount of games in a short period of time. It was important that we freshened it up a little bit.” The result did nothing to ease the pressure on head coach Ramsey, who insisted Derby’s second-half winner should not have stood. Rangers felt Richard Keogh handled the ball when he teed up Andreas Weimann to fire home. “There’s very little you can do when someone handballs it and sets somebody up and the referee doesn’t give it,” Ramsey said. “Ultimately, these are the decisions that stop you from getting to your goal. “But at the moment we’re going through a little bit of a hard spell. We need to get through it, work hard and keep doing what we believe in.”
Crap, the only person who needs a rest is Ramsey .............. a permanent rest from masquerading as our manager.
He's clearly intimating that the goal posts have been moved since the beginning of the season, with expectations being raised by Tony.
Particularly like the bit, 'We've shown we can perform as well as the top teams'............. What matches does he watch exactly? Doesn't seem to be Qpr matches.
the man is a disgrace hes doing to us what tim sherwood did to villa,he should be sacked instantly our directors are useless they should not be scared to sack ferdinand and ramsey after all both these guys have earned a nice few quid out of qpr and theyve been paid for absolutely destroying our club
I would of thought on here there must be a few who get the big picture The club is in dire straits regarding money and the pending fine Certain they knew that they would face anger from the fans They are loving the fact that it's all pointed to the fall guy who just needed to build a new side and stay in this division ... He is fine Results not going well I expect our assets to go in 2 months and then we hold on to stay up I really wouldn't worry about this season at all There is no money There is no new manager It's the plan ... The exit strategy The joke of English football Fans demanding wins are lost
What a load of bollacks, its not as if they have been playing all season! Totally disgusted with this season with the way we've been playing & team selection, sorry had enough of him & i don't normally put anyone down but i'm not enjoying watching them this season..
With all that is happening with our lot, I'd settle just to remain in this division. Naturally, we don't want to go down and stating the obvious, we have no chance of going up............. so we might as well put our feet up staying in the Championship. I'm starting to think that this division may be our 'Hotel California' ........................ "We can think about the PL anytime we like but we can never leave"
Like you I am not a big fan of the Ferdinand and Ramsay partnership but to say they have destroyed our club is total over-the-top nonsense. Our club has been slowly taken apart for the last decade or so, these two are just the latest incompetents in a long line of contributors to our decline, not the sole reason.
