Got a personalized response from Francesca this morning: Thank you Ernie.....and to your Dad for introducing you to the game . I'm sure you have lots of beautiful memories together with him. Francesca x Which was nice.
Bloke that does raffles on classic shirts agreed to donate this week to The Chillo Appeal. 3quid a go to win a tidy little Luis Figo shirt. He's just launched the raffle now and the tickets sell fast so get onto it quickly!
Very good article on dementia by Martin Samuel in the Mail. apparently Thiago Silva has been complaining of headaches after just two games in the PL!! This is a player who has played 660 games and is 36. can’t list the full article sorry
I'm not sure what the cost is, maybe they can stagger it, for example, stay 3 weeks then home for 1 weeks
I was looking last year, a decent care home was coming in around £1k/week plus whatever extra services were required.
Depends how bad he is I suppose I think some of the castle wards on noddle hill will be around three grand I bet now. I just hope the family aren’t trying to pull a fast one in regards to finances. Surprising how many times families try and hide money
The family aren't trying to do anything untoward. I'm not sure such speculative comments are appropriate in the circumstances. So far there is £35,000 raised for this appeal, which is a fantastic amount. We'll be doing something to thank everyone very soon. This isn't the sum total of the fundraising though. Some people have gone through different channels. There are also various wonderful initiatives from the club and elsewhere. I don't know how the family are going to approach things. That will be up to them. They now have options, however - options they didn't have a month ago. I also know that this fundraising campaign has energised them too, something that shouldn't be underestimated. We never thought we'd be able to solve all of the Chilton family's problems. We've never tried to put a figure on the fundraising for that reason. But the combined efforts of everyone has made the family's life better. Much better. And that's something I know they are beyond thankful for. This is also gone a small way towards raising the profile of the issue of dementia in footballers. I know there are much more high-profile footballers who have suffered and who continue to suffer. It's sad that it takes such events to unfold for action to be taken, but as fans of every club see a number of their legends go through what Chris and his family are going through, hopefully the sport itself will rethink how it supports those people. The (national) Daily Mail seems to have started a campaign today, and The Guardian and The Telegraph have also been excellent on the topic. Fingers crossed that future cases won't be as reliant on such campaigns.
Richard keep us up to speed with what you intend to do with the shirt Chillo last played in, hopefully another significant opportunity to raise further funds
