1-0 to Senegal (2-3 aggregate)...... 5 minutes left 1-1 (2-4 agg) Kalou 90+3 on the break... Ivory Coast go to Brazil.
Loads of good football tonight apart from England which I am out for. All the second legs of the UEFA play-offs, and Gibraltar's first ever game away to Slovakia. Danny Higginbotham is in the squad, plus Liam Walker (ex Pompey) and Scott Wiseman from Barnsley. All the rest are from the Gibraltar league.
Wonder how Spain feel about Gibraltar being accepted as a separate nation by EUFA. The fact they are playing their home games in Portugal is telling.
UEFA have arranged things so Spain and Gibraltar are never in the same group. That probably tells you everything you need to know!
England name their team to play their home match against San Marino in their Under-21 European Championship qualifying match. Gareth Southgate's England side are top of Group One with 13 points from their five matches, while San Marino are bottom with one win from seven games. The England starting line-up is: Butland, Jenkinson, Robinson, Hughes, Stones, Keane, Ince, Ward-Prowse, Ings, Lingard and Sterling. Substitutes: 12 Shaw, 13 Bond, 14 Chalobah, 15 Dier, 16 Zaha, 17 Bamford, 18 Morrison.
Oh good Luke only on the bench. That is completely and utterly fine with me. I reckon Cortese will be there with a tranquilizer gun ready to shoot Shaw if he looks like he's coming on.
The stress of having all these internationals in the team is getting to me! Have Arsenal got anyplaying tonight?
and good luck to Croatia tonight SouthamptonFCroatia! I need another Balkan team to support (as well as Bosna i Hercegovina) when England get knocked out!
When Serbia and Croatia played a few months back, I was hoping for a particularly feisty rivalry, perhaps ending in an all-out brawl. To my disappointment, it turned out that the two countries actually respected each other and played a very professional (and boring) game with no incidents. What the ****, guys?! On a more serious note, you've got to love Bosnia. And Croatia. Such a shame they've come up against the only team I'd rather see in the World Cup than them.
What's this I heard that many of Gibraltar's squad didn't have studded football boots because there isn't a grassed pitch in Gibraltar, so they had to go out and buy boots for them.
Good interview with JWP and Luke...Luke says that James is a role model. So JWP replied by letting us know that Luke used to be nicknamed Puke because he threw up on his first day with the youth team. Apparently only one person in Europe is a better crosser (statistically) than James. Both have been talked up as future England players.
Thanks! If we fail to qualify, i'll just jump to England bandwagon I know, we became much more civilised
BT not as smooth as Sky because I guess they are settling in, but very professional. More BBC1 than Sky. Just shown a sequence of JWP action and praising both our lads and by extension Southampton.
