At my age? Hopefully I have a chance of book six, the seventh? Meh, not likely if it comes fifteen years (and counting) after book six!
Not for everyone probably but just read Leonard and Hungry Paul by Ronan Hessian.
Nice slow paced story of two single adult male friends (not lovers) who are a little unusual, and overlooked in life. One writes blurb in encyclopaedias and the other lives with his parent and does casual postal work.
Hard to describe tbh, but I really liked it.
It’s being made into a 6 part BBC series apparently (didn’t know that when I got it) which tbh sounds a terrible idea but we’ll see.

The latest book in the Rivers of London series just came out, they're urban fantasy novels by Ben Aaronovitch. I've really enjoyed them. Will read the latest one on holiday later this week.
Also while I'm here I'd recommend The Dublin Trilogy (there 8 books so far!) and The McGarry Stateside by Caimh McDonnell by feature a dishevelled Irish detective Bunny McGarry lots of dark humour and complex plots.
Both different but worthy reads IMHO.

I'm not usually a massive fan of series of books - sure my ADD is getting worse - I'll enjoy the first one or two then lose interest.
I really enjoyed Rivers of London, thought that it was a really interesting idea and really well written. I bought the next few in the series, read the second one and haven't yet got any further. I'll probably return to them at some point though.
I read A Man With One of Those Faces a couple of months ago and thought it was excellent. Further episodes are on my list.
Like you, I highly recommend both.

There's a new film coming out later this year, directed by Edgar Wright. Looks decent.

Couple of classics I love are Catch-22 and Three Men in a Boat. Both are very funny and very different.
