This ....................... Maybe a fair way to price a PL goalscorer is by goals scored in the PL.
18 goals for the season makes him a minimum 18 million pound player.

Throw in the fact that if he played for a top four club, he may have been scored more.

If he played for any of the clubs mentioned he would be scoring goals at a much higher level against top European opposition. To score 18 goals in a shyte team is exceptional and proves he has potential but with one year left on his contract it will take a club who are desperate to pay over £10-12 million for him. To try and block him from moving is never a good idea, especially if the team makes a poor start next season.

I think if we got a £12 million offer it would be too good to turn down and a £15 million offer we would snap their hand off. The fact he's English may just help us achieve the higher offer but I hope it doesn't happen at the last minute leaving us f*cked for a replacement...

With a but of planning, we have owners who have the wealth to have no problem financing a really good replacement for Austin now, so he could do pre-season with us, and sell Austin when the buyers become deparate. Same with any other decent player they will let go back to the PL. The planning needs just a touch more nous than Harry had, or whoever was so stupid with Remy.

It helps if we are now attempting to balance the books/at least break even on an annual basis and not need the owners to throw more money away.
 
Maybe, New Radiant SC, the current Maldives Dhivehi League champions, will make an offer? Charlie would enjoy it initially, but would finally get a bit bored I would imagine?

Seriously, I think between 12m and 15m is about right for him, but don't think he wants to go far from London, that's obvious.

Charlie Austin has been one of the most-talked about names of the summer transfer window.
The QPR striker netted 18 Premier League goals last season as part of a relegated team and has been linked with a huge number of rivals, most heavily: Newcastle and West Ham, as per the Daily Mirror among others.
But the constant mentioning of Austin too early in the summer may have created a counterproductive outcome for those in pursuit of a new striker.
For all the noises coming out of Austin's camp now are firmly pointing towards a QPR stay. Not only are the R's keen on keeping him, with the 25-year-old saying he is keen on staying, Austin seems to have formed a strong bond with his team-mates already in pre-season. He is hardly pulling a Raheem Sterling.
Newcastle, meanwhile, have just spent big on Georginio Wijnaldum and have been heavily linked with Aleksandar Mitrovic while West Ham have too been busy in the transfer market already.

Certainly, a club could still come in and steal Austin away from Loftus Road. Big money can always change equations. Chelsea, the Hammers, the Magpies and more all still may go for another striker. But QPR's rejection of Leicester City's £12 million bid, as per the BBC. was a strong signal of intent and, as stated, the striker himself looks more than happy to stay with the R's.
Could Tony Fernandes be doing his best business of the summer here?

What a total load of bollocks,he's only been back in training 4 days!Almost 100% certain we will sell him,i've had a small wager on him going to Crystal Palace!
 
Maybe he is the complete opposite of Sterling with the exception of scoring goals. TF can use some of the Sterling money to counter to keeping Austin.
I'm dreaming? Yes! ............. but after all the crap we supporters have put up with over the years, I think were entitled to dream a little and hope it comes to fruition.
 
Not sure if it's more hope or expectation, Shefford, but I'm starting to lean your way.

Up to the start of July, I was convinced he would go. But between the posts on instagram and twitter, and an agent I heard interviewed on talkshite (I know, but I'm in the States. My choices are limited!) who suggested that a lot of the rumors are being driven by the press rather than clubs actually wanting to sign him.

The agent also suggested that he may have issues passing a medical, after the problem pointed out by the medical he failed at Hull. Now you may say that he passed our medical, but this is the same medical team that passed Keiron Dyer and Sandro...

Either way, I hope we surprise everyone and do keep him. That would transform our chances of bouncing back up, and he's certainly the new model of 'right sort'.

(Yes, yes, Beth. As long as we sign some defenders...!)
 
If he won't sign a new deal and we get offered £15m we should sell him and reinvest, with the sterling money on top we can get a decent goalscorer to go with the strikers we've already added, maybe a couple of defenders to boot too!
 
People have bemoaned the amount of bad business done by the Rs in recent years, but NOT selling Charlie Austin would be the worst of the lot.

We are not in a position to p!ss away £15m in a year when promotion will be unlikely and not necessarily a good thing and when we might get clobbered with a significant fine.

IMO, the only similarity between the Charlie Austin and Loic Remy situations would be if they both left towards the end of the window.

The club had expected Remy to stay and it was too late to sign a reasonable replacement. That is not the case here. The club expect Charlie to be sold but won't be pressured into selling him on the cheap. They are signing others, even if none of them are direct replacements for Charlie ... yet.

The news that the Sterling sale will bring in around £9m also means that we have some cash to play with and signing new players is not dependent on offloading Charlie as soon as possible (and not holding out for the asking price) in order raise money.

I expect him to go for the asking price or near as damn it. I think that the club does too.
