I don't see how the club can afford to spurn the opportunity to cash in on Austin. The only possible justification would be a gamble on going straight back up, and that is a very big long-shot.
I agree with this; apart from his goals last season we should all remember that it was his goals (until he got injured) that effectively got us up the year before.I actually don't think it's a that much of a risk to keep him unless we get the right money in.
If he goes we're still going to have to fork out the majority of what we receive on a replacement(s) + he's probably not the highest earning as we got when in the Prem. If we keep & do well then although a long shot does give us more chance of challenging for promotion & if not then still think we would find someone prepared to pay £6m in January as clubs trying to ensure survival.

If the aim is to bounce back then we should not take less than 12 million in my opinion. Of course the key thing is- does he really want to move on? No point keeping a player if his mind is elsewhere.
Charlie is desperate to leave us and wants his transfer fee reduced:

Another non-story...
With respect, are you ITK? Prefer him to go especially if someone pays £15m for a player that cant play up front on his own. Without OBZ he was nothing special.Another non-story...
Agree half theses stories are made up with no substance or fact. Why can't journalists just write facts instead of all this rubbish? People will believe this and start posting it around and then others will miss interpret it and so on, causing unnecessary unrest. I have heard that before?

Hope most of the posters on here aren't involved in jobs where they are required to negotiate?!
We set a price that we think he's worth. His age, his goals and his character mean £15m is a sensible asking price.
Someone will blink first.
We don't need to deal, our hand will only get stronger.
Between now and end of transfer window, any money we get for Sterling, Fer, Caulker or more wages off books like Green will only improve our negotiating position.
Norwich stood their ground with Fer and got their cash in the end. Stand our ground and someone will pay the money.
He's on the wages he signed for from Burnley and he will contribute if he stays. Stand our ground, and no need for last minute deals unless we have a replacement like Remy as there is no clause like that
Fine as long as we get a replacement/ good back up in before our eyes have started to water through not blinking and there's nothing good left on the shelf.Hope most of the posters on here aren't involved in jobs where they are required to negotiate?!

You've changed your tune. This is what you said last week when I suggested on another thread the sale would go through late......Hope most of the posters on here aren't involved in jobs where they are required to negotiate?!

Disagree.
18 goal a season proven premier league strikers aren't a common thing.
These clubs also have their own reasons for wanting the deal done as soon as possible.
If the try a stand off they could be left without those goals till January by which time damage to their season could be done
