Not sure that's a fair comparison. Marsden had quite a cultured left foot, took up good positions on the pitch, and could spread the play. He was also a pretty good tackler. Chaplow is not the same player, by any means, but he plays in the modern high energy game in an even higher energy style, which is something Marsden could never do. The present game and team setup is biased in favour of Chaplow.
Now if you said would I prefer say... a modern Alan Ball, with all the advantages of today's diet and fitness, I'd choose Bally any day of the week. In fact, I'd choose Bally over a lot of players, so perhaps that's just as unfair. But they were much more similar players.
