I said competitive, whilst the 23's is ok it is no preparation for the championship, just my opinion as anyone who is any good would not be playing u23 football at anything above 19, unless coming back from injury, the govea one is a bit strange, even more strange when he is an out and out left back and Olsson isn't traveling, maybe he just isn't at the level yet.
Arrived at Daytona Beach today for how long i am not sure but there is plenty of things to see and do anyway.........I have been getting as much info on how we are doing and apart from a 15 - 20 goal striker then we are not that far off being a tidy side and i think we are underestimating how good we are..... I see we are playing two games in one day playing 60 minutes per game so that should be interesting, Potts. Reed and legend Curtis are true to their word is getting the team to play from the back with some slick passing and i'm impressed with the quality of crosses into the box........I think we needed this relegation as we were stale and had lost our way and i'm sure there is a big improvement in the club already and with a couple more additions i think we will be a team that will be very hard to beat.....COYS,,
Olsson may be having a longer break due to the World Cup? Nordvelt never plays, so won't need a rest!
from what I have read - Clucas, Mawson, J. Ayew, Fernandez, McBurnie to be sold and A. Ayew and Bony on loan - any truth??
I get that but wouldn't you think he would have taken Govea our new Left Back signing, if our current left back is not due to go on tour,
Why sign him then, surely if we have just signed him you would want to have a look at him at a good level, just makes no sense. take both of them.
Perhaps he's thinking of Lewis as backup tp Olssen and Govea taking his place in the under 23's . Who knows? I think we are going to see a lot of younger players this season and the old guard being moved on. I don't see us being involved in any promotion battle this season but hopefully next season or the one after. Just hope we don't get relegated .
What I am saying is take both and look at them both against good opposition and it will then give you a clear idea who you believe is the best suited either to start or to back up Olsson. I am with you on the hope of no relegation, but there so many similarities between us and Sunderland I fear for us. I am still of a mind that many are underestimation the quality in this league and we need a good nucleus of Championship standard players not all kids, which looks like we will be doing.
That midfield today is super lightweight, not sure there is a tackle amongst them. Neat and tidy when on the ball.
Grimes looks a more mature player than he was before he went on loan but is no wing back which adds to the mystery of why Govea didn't travel. Looking forward to seeing Asoro in the flesh looks a good signing. Dhanda looks skilful on the ball and all passing the ball well but we look lightweight up front and shot shy. We are relying on Asoro too much as our only threat and would like to see more down the left. I would like to see Carroll and Grimes swap position in the second half and yes I know we are experimenting.
Grimes has looked very vulnerable where he is, not sure he is going to be good enough anywhere on the pitch mate. Take amat and VDH out of this side and there isn't a tackle amongst them, a little worrying if this how we go into the start of the season.
