    Why does a football club have to pay the agent , it should be the player who the agent is representing .

    Because there'd always be a club who would be happy to pay agent fees to get the player they wanted. Can you imagine Chelsea saying to Hazard "we want your to sign for us but, we're not paying your agent fees?" I like where you're coming from, it's never happening though. Mores the pity.

    Half the employees in the country were probably hired using employment agents with their fee being paid by the employer. That's life.
