He got 5 years from o'Neill so has 2 or 3 left I think. Best business o'Neill did and I said it at the time. Others certainly slated him constantly. His discipline hasn't been anywhere near as bad for us as most think. And let's compare all of his yellow and red cards with Costas kick out yesterday... None anywhere near as bad. He's booked cos he's cattermole. No other reason.

I love watching him play. He captains the side without the band. I hope he finishes his career here personally but thnk one of the big boys may come knocking and that will put him in the England frame.

Thought Bruce signed him?

Passing let him down but that's not what this game was about.

2 take ons, both completed, won over 50% of his tackles without giving away a single freekick. 3 interceptions, 4 clearances, and 3 blocks is fantastic protection. Almost everything which came down the middle from Chelsea was limited to long balls easily delt with by our defence.

He was Great but Vergini took my man of the match.

I must admit i thought Vergini would get a right tonking off Hazzard but he was superb and could have nicked it for us.

To be fair, it could have been anyone from 7 who got MOTM, the whole back four, plus Catt's, Larsson or Wickham.

Yeah it was a great all round performance, you're just looking at tiny little thing to knock scores down. Catt's passing, Connor with a few bad touches and a few bad decissions. Reveillere giving the ball away few times. AJ drifting out the game a bit. Things like that. Hardly worth the mention but with such a great all round performance they made a few others stand out just a little bit more.

Vergini
O'Shea
Catt's

Would be my 123 for MoM, great performance by all.

I think that's spot on, though I'd switch 2-3.

It was good to see Conner be a nuisance, more so in the second half and thought he and Jozy linked up well, offering a bit more bite. They were both all-at-it running at defenders with the ball and their eye on goal.

I also though Altidore gave us much more than Fletch ...just saying <whistle>

It's great that we are arguing (as such) over MOTM choice instead of who's fault it was!

6 weeks and 1 day ago we conceded 8 goals to Southampton who were nowhere near as good as that score line.
Yesterday we became the only team, in 20 games that Chelsea have played, to stop them scoring.

Every one to a man deserves credit.

Absolutely.

To me Catts was man of the match by a country mile followed closely by O'Shea but the main thing was the team performance. Couldn't fault anymore in terms of effort and committment. Best I have seen for a long time against one of the best teams I have seen for a long time. Wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea has the EPL wrapped up by the time Santa comes....

eh? <laugh>

Agreed but for me it was Catt's who just about did enough to nick it. Lets hope they give a similar performance on Wednesday.

If Catts played like that every week then great, but he doesn't. Got away with a couple of tackles and at times his distribution was average. Don't get me wrong, he had a good game, but he is miles behind those Chelsea lads in terms of playing football. He is a good honest journeyman clogger, bit of a Nobby Stiles, all teams need one.

He's more than that - he's an enforcer

You fishing or what?

Must be drinking to say that this season. He plays like that almost every week. 2 bad performances this season and even they weren't awful. He gave a couple away trying a Hollywood pass twice on Saturday. That's not "average distribution" it's trying to play football. And those 2 passes, a foot higher, would've been perfect attacking passes. We were playing THE BEST team in the country and one of the best in Europe. His distribution was excellent most of the time. He is as far from a "clogger" as you are from a generally well respected poster!!

No Need to get personal Marcus, we all have different opinions, it is allowed. And you are a good poster ????
Make me laugh you do Marcus. Let's not fall out just because I don't rate Cattermole and Wickham as highly as you do.
