We don't leave the dogs for more than 4 or 5 hours. They have each other for company. But on a busy day when both kids have activities in different directions it becomes a mission to juggle everything. That's a pretty simple one. If people haven't got time for them then they shouldn't have one. My dog needs zero attention, she's perfectly happy just lying about minding her own business until walking time. I wouldn't leave her in the house for more than 3 or 4 hours alone, though. She could handle it, I just don't like to do it.
Plus when we go on hols it's ****ing expensive to board them as we won't use kennels. We tried them once when we went away for a weekend break and I ended up threatening to sue and report them. They go and stay with a lady we know but she charges ££.
The mistake we made was getting a second dog. Loads of people would take the lab while we're away but no one wants two dogs, especially as the second one is annoying as ****.
