We have two dogs. One I'm fond of, the other is a pain in the arse.
The most annoying thing about dogs is the attention they need. You can't go anywhere for more than a few hours before you have to "get back for the dogs".
We can leave the cat for a couple of days. Food on a timer, cat flap at his convenience and he's good to go.

That's a pretty simple one. If people haven't got time for them then they shouldn't have one. My dog needs zero attention, she's perfectly happy just lying about minding her own business until walking time. I wouldn't leave her in the house for more than 3 or 4 hours alone, though. She could handle it, I just don't like to do it.
