Cant be arsed with this thread..

Weve got people who said redknapp wouldnt get us up, people who said they hated all our games and didnt want to go & people who said we werent good enough all making excuses togehter...Comical

Stan - for the record - you said you were bored to tears of watching that dross last season, and at no time do i ever (prior to Wigan) remember you saying that you had enjoyed watching a game. i think your opening statement was incorrect mate.
It was one of the MAIN reasons i stopped posting for a while...along with Flyers incessant drivel.

Im happy to be proven wrong but from recolection (bearing in mind its 4am here) there were only a few of us (Swords, Eamon etc) who were willing to give the team and harry the season to prove themselves.
Im not saying they were great, but, we are in the Prem now, without that Marrocon clown and have won a final at Wembley. I think that firmly puts the doubters to bed.
Whilst i respect everyones entitlled ment to an opinion, the bull**t backtracking is getting tedious.

Why cant we just be happy for the fact that we're up? I lok at the Burnley and Leicester boards and find no sign of in fighting etc, yet here we still have Flyer telling us Harry is crap, Damage telling us we need the fat fool back etc.....

FFS..We're supposed to be celebrating....!

SORRY RANT OVER !

Why should it not be possible to celebrate our promotion whilst still being critical of Redknapp?

Why should it not be possible to celebrate our promotion whilst still being critical of Redknapp?

thats your perogative mate but the facts are simple:

EVERYBODY knew that Harry's objective was to get us up to the Premiership by what ever means neccessary. He had his doubters and those who were not sure (like myself)
SIMPLE FACT IS: He has done it. There is no way on earth that you can deny that!

Talk all you like about formations, players, styles techniques etc...but WE ARE IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE thanks to Harry and the team.

If you think you could have done better, then why not have a go? MANY MANY other more qualified manager have tried the straight back up thing and failed!

Be critical all you like, but we are now in a better position than when COLIN took us up!
We have the core of a decent team
We have cash to invest
We have a team that plays as a team, not a 1 man team
We have a manger that survived in the Prem for many seasons
We have an impending new stadium
We have a new training facility etc...

COLIN had none of this and we were destined to fail becaus we were a 1 man team and found out very quickly.

Now, my friend..If you can find something to be critical of in all that, then i suggest you join Flyer in the Mogadon club...because to me it all looks very f-ing rosey right now for us.

Its up to you mate <ok>

EDIT: I suppose I'm just one very happy "Happy Clapper"!

Not enough humble pie has hitherto been consumed IMO Strolls

TBH Swords. the likes of Me, you, Eamon etc could have come onto the board and started countless "I told you so" threads and slated countless posters for getting it wrong.
I have refrained from any of that and just sat back and watched people make countless excuses for there opinions etc. Why not just put thier hands up and say OK lads, harry got us up & I was wrong?

No, they still want to slate a man and team that has achieved a phenominal feat.!! i just dont understand it.
Remember how much crap Zamora was getting & Harry for picking him...Where are all those doubters now ? I dont see many putting thier hands up.

I said id judge the team at the end of the season, Well, they are f-ing heroes..every last one of them.( I never said Legends!)

Jesus HC..the glass is more than half full for me !

EDIT: i flew 15000kms to see that team deliver AND THEY DID. How anybody can be critical defies belief.!

SORRY RANT OVER !

I've read this 3 times and I'm afraid I don't understand it at all. Read my OP again. I'm just saying that I'm torn between retaining the spirit we showed towards the end of the season and getting new blood in. At no time did I have a go at Redknapp or his alleged transfer policy I'm trying to look forward not back. It's beyond me what 'excuses' you think I'm making. The OP can't be 'incorrect' because it's about what I think/feel, not an attempt to persuade anyone of anything, not a criticism of anyone, not a justification of anything. If this thread has been dragged in other directions thats not my call, the OP just kicks things off, he/she doesn't have editorial rights on what others write. Thank goodness.

I did find the vast majority of last season pretty dire to watch, but I still went to a fair few games. Sorry if my posting my views puts you off joining in, but thats not going to stop me, unless I get bored with it myself. For the record I'm not the only one who wasn't delighted - the atmosphere at LR for a lot of games was enough evidence of that. Ask Sussex and Judo, who have my huge respect for going to very nearly every game, what they think.

And I'll tell you why I was disappointed. It's because I thought, and still think, we have got a lot of very good players, who, for whatever reason, rarely showed us how good they are. That's why I agreed with Col that a lot of them should still be in the team next year. If I thought we had a crap team my expectations and hopes would have been different.

Move on mate.

TBH Swords I have refrained from any of that and just sat back and watched people make countless excuses for there opinions etc. Why not just out thier hands up and say OK lads, harry got us up & I was wrong?

That's what annoyed me so much and led me to start that thread last week. I thought the fellas on would've had more cojones than that.

But as I said mate, never underestimate the power of a man's ego. He will twist and convulse and cook up every conceivable fantasy rather than accept he may have made a mistake. Its actually the cause of all human conflict on both micro and macro scales. Just look at the wildly different interpretations of historical fact. Generally it just depends on which piece of rock you happened (by pure chance) to be born on. The ego creates self delusion and that delusion itself strengthens and maintains the ego.

Shocking stuff Queens. Sorry, I digress....

Stan..read the first 9 words of your op, then go back and look at the posts you were making after most of the games last season.
That was all i was talking about. im not saying you are wrong to dislike what you see, but you were certainly one complaining about the performances(as were others). You cant do that then flip and say you enjoyed the last few games.?

I stopped posting not only because of you, but primarily because we had achieved a trip to Wembley and every post was so bloody negative. Bad manager, bad player bad formations...blah blah blah..well you know what..they were alll proven wrong.

Of course you can post what ever you like, i have no issue wuith that, but you went from a top, level minded poster into one of Flyers drones. You rarely had anything positive to say and thats a massive shame for someone as good as you.

Moving on has nothing to do with it, just find it ridiculous that people are still questioning a manger that ha done all that was asked of him...no matter how he did it. Maybe you need to reasses your view on Redknapp and his abilities. I agree the football may not be great but who else in the last 15 years has got us promoted via a play of final at our National Stadium and the "home" of football?

That's right Swords, the thread that you rightly abandoned.

Redknapp fluked it.

Geezers on this here Forum don't recognise the effect of having people chucking out constant negativity every hour of every day of every week of the league season. It was really burdensome for the fans who could see the progress that was being made, having to endure that relentless onslaught continuously. Then when the season's over and with promotion secured, instead of those people acknowledging their error and giving credit to those who stood firm, you see them mouth off about it all being a fluke etc and its just too much to take. I empathise totally with Queens here as I know exactly where he's coming from.

And again I find its no coincidence that Queens and myself both happen to be overseas and perhaps can see the bigger picture so to speak.

What do you make of that Stroller?

I think it's just the burden of having a season ticket mate.

You're a ST holder? Bloody hell, didn't know that mate.

In that case you've every right to gripe and complain and to tell folk like me not forking out all that money to sling our hooks!

Maximum respect to all you fellas <ok>

At least Rufus Brevett agree’s with me

A QPR legend has warned the club they need to make big changes if they are to survive the Premier League next season

“Do they need a raft of changes? Even before Rangers got a man sent, Derby were the better team, and Harry (Redknapp, manager) knows it,” he said.

http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/qpr-legend-warns-dont-go-7220272

There’s a couple of people too ignorant to understand that we are all delighted to get back in the premier league- that’s obviously a given. SO to avoid a summer of this, what follows is all I have to say on this matter:

The bickering on here centres around these oracles who knew that in what is essentially a cup competition (which would have been a calamity if we hadn’t managed to get into the top 6) where we would come up against a team that had already beaten the team that would eventually become premier league champions they were so certain that we would win AND Mclean wouldn’t squeeze the ball under Rob Green and then miss the rebound. They also knew that Kiernan’s deflected shot would not go in the far corner but just past the post.

They also knew that in the final that despite getting outplayed and going down to 10 men and drifting to 10/1 with bet in play markets that the ball would fall to Bobby Zamora for our 1st and only shot on target. Wow!! You guys must all be millionaires because I’m sure you went and lumped your entire life savings on at the point at which we drifted to 10/1 bet in play. You also knew after the perfomances like Sheffield Wednesday away, Charlton away and Blackburn away that we would get promoted???

Of course you didn’t know any of this, like me what you really knew was that we would get in the play offs and from there have a punchers chance. You also know Harry had been outperformed by Pearson, Dyche and McClaren who with the exception of Pearson undoubtedly had a far more difficult job on their hands.

Now again it’s a given I cant wait for games against Chelsea, United, and even Stoke rather than Rotheram, Doncaster and Huddersfield next season but while we obviously achieved our aims the fortunate circumstances 1 shot on target against the run of play with 10 men another major feeling is RELIEF.

We had to do it this year or we were in huge trouble. While I’m sure we would have survived but the chances were that 15 years out the prem like the time before this could have seemed like no time at all. With the team we had, the money invested, the debt growing, and the increasing difficulty of getting out of the league the longer your’e in it (Bolton is best example, 2 seasons out the premiership with far more conservative spending and at last count they are in £164m of debt with no prospect of promotion) we had to do it this year.

Thank **** we did.

But we did it through the play offs, a better manager would have done it through the automatics and taken all of the risk out of it. Lets hope Harry is wise enough this year to go into the season with 4 strikers and not 2 injury prone strikers and 1 other who had just failed a medical. Lets hope he is wise enough to not go into this next season with just 3 centre backs 2 being injury prone and 1 being in his mid 30’s.

As I’ve said before Warnock led us into the premier league and Redknapp fluked it. But they both achieved the same end and for that I’m delighted but don’t pretend for a minute you knew it would happen and you didn’t know the risks if it didnt happen. I also was giving Redknapp a season so this cannot be claimed by any one group as no one was calling for him to be sacked. The only difference is that Harry made a lot of mistakes and some of us pointed those out.
