That is pretty much my one and only criteria!

It’s not my only criteria.. if it was I’d have had any of the new Hyundai SUV, the KIA Stortage SUV. MAZDA CX5. All nice looking motors. Problem with them is they are a bit soulless.

I know nothing about cars. If it looks nice and I can fit the kids and the dogs in it then it works for me. Hence having the same car for 12 years although it no longer looks nice which is why I should probably replace it!

It’s kinda nice if it provides those little conveniences like starting, not breaking down every 5 mins, and stopping when it’s supposed to, too.

Do you find motoring in Spain more expensive? Cars over there seem a lot more than the equivalent here.

They are, especially second hand ones. Transferring them is an expensive nightmare too.

On the plus side, driving conditions are generally far superior to the UK. Very little comparative traffic, much better roads, diesel ( which I currently use) is 8-10 cents per litre cheaper than petrol.

Also, cars don’t rust here, tend to last a lot longer because of the easier driving conditions, etc.

Cars are nowhere near the top of my wish list of things. If I’ve got everything else - maybe. Currently have about an 8 yr old 330d. Does everything I need it to - doesn’t hang about either.

Good car that. Got the same but m sport.

The roads are bit scary when it rains though. So bloody slippy. The servicing out there is more too my dad found.

Where abouts were you again?? As I’ve got a free villa near to where I think you are next month. Going to La Pagona. Close to murcia airport.

I’m up on the Northern Costa Blanca.

Edit: Yep. Mine’s been remapped too. Can be a bit slippy when it rains, which isn’t that often here. I have extra wide 9J 18” wheels on the back with Dunlop all weather tyres which help.

Ah shame. Thought you were about an hour or so from where my family are. Thought you were more south. Family are all near Denia. Which is where I got married last year.

I’d have met you for beer!

The 330d is a brilliant car, I’d actually buy one, which I can’t say for that many motors tbh.

The major difference between X5 and X3 is cost, it's not as simple as saying get the X5 it's better for **** sake, it costs more or less twice as much for comparable age/mileage etc.

The newer X3 is a good car, the original was ****e. It's a bit hairdressery for definite and absolutely not top of my list but in conversations with her while driving for 96 hours through France it became a valid option. I think I was hypnotised!

Not sure which similar size SUV is supposed to be much better? What Car! would contradict that and I wouldn't go near a Q5 for instance. Toureg maybe?

Taking of the saloon, the BMW is the sporty one and the Audi the cruisy one, not the other way round.
I'd go BMW, Merc, Audi in that order and probably still wouldn't get an A4. Would consider an A6 strongly though.

Anyway, it's more or less down to the 5 series and the XF and I've now decided that it being an estate does not necessarily have to the clincher. I would still prefer one though!!

My boss just came to site, has a 5 series.

Checked the boot size and it confirms I do need to Tourer!

The Touraeg boot is smaller than my old Audi A6 allroad. But it's taller, so with my business I can fit more things in more easily, if that makes sense ?
