Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ready to let wing back Carl Jenkinson out on loan this season.
The 21-year-old has made great strides since making his debut for the Gunners in 2011 and has made 23 appearances for the first team.
Now, however, the Emirates boss believes he is ready for the next stage of his development and like Jack Wilshire and Kieran Gibbs before him, that could involve a loan spell.
Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio is keen to give the defender an opportunity to continue his education at the Stadium of Light but Wenger will insist the player fills a first team berth whenever fit.
Meanwhile defender Johan Djorou - having joined Hamburg on a season long loan - has made it clear to Wenger that he's keen to rejoin at the end of the season despite the German club being offered a first option to make the deal permanent.
