Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ready to let wing back Carl Jenkinson out on loan this season.

The 21-year-old has made great strides since making his debut for the Gunners in 2011 and has made 23 appearances for the first team.

Now, however, the Emirates boss believes he is ready for the next stage of his development and like Jack Wilshire and Kieran Gibbs before him, that could involve a loan spell.

Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio is keen to give the defender an opportunity to continue his education at the Stadium of Light but Wenger will insist the player fills a first team berth whenever fit.

Meanwhile defender Johan Djorou - having joined Hamburg on a season long loan - has made it clear to Wenger that he's keen to rejoin at the end of the season despite the German club being offered a first option to make the deal permanent.

Whilst Celutska's usual position is right back, he can play right or left back so if there's truth in this story, both could be accommodated

I remember Sess tore him a number of new arseholes last season before he just kicked him!! He's quick but struggles with tricky players

Don't think this will distract us from our priorities. However, season long deal, cheap as **** wages, hungry and young. Good competition for the new lad. Why the hell not?

Mate, I agree with the sentiments but we're trying to loan a first choice LB. I kissed that dream goodbye about three weeks ago. Sick as **** but clearly the way **** is going down.

sorry Murray out, but Jenkinson is good. Has a firm foot on the ball, good distribution and can get forward, taking people on.

    Big yes from me :)

Thing is - not being good enough for a top 4 side doesn't (necessarily) mean you aren't good enough for us.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt (if he signs) but he was way out of his depth against Sess last season and ended up getting sent off because of that - lost his head very easily when he was getting beaten every time. If he signs then no problem - he's very quick - but for me a full back's first job is to defend - it's no good having a great attacking full back who can't defend for **** - you can go on about the "modern full back" but defending is their first job - getting forward is less important (still important - just not as important)

Mate, you're the one who needs to get over Rose. You tell folk to shut it every time you read his name. Nobody on this thread is discussing a transfer for rose. But he's an ex loan player who will draw comparisons from time to time, especially when the subject involves loaning a young fullback. Get over it man. Sick of you telling people to button it.
