I don't know why I bother to contradict Billy. I never win.

Very solid performance. Cardiff had more possession and shots but we came closer to winning.

Longer-term problem is that this team relies a lot on Hughes, Jackson and Fuller, who are all vulnerable to injuries. Need to find younger players to cover and compete with them in the summer. But for now let's just enjoy a job well done (almost). Staying up.

Now let's support the u21s in their vital penultimate match tomorrow. Away to Brighton. Difficult. We drew 0-0 with Button, Taylor, BWP and Cook in the team, and we will be without Harriott and Smith this time.

But as I posted above, I think the u21s actually do better without "guest stars". I fancy our chances.

Well done, apart from your fans getting silly and acting 'ard' at the family stand. The sight of an 8 year old tank Cardiff fan must have calmed them down.

Another good point and keeps our end-of-season charge going. What do you think The Doctor has done that Curbs, pardew and Parky couldn't to get rid of that end-of-season slump? When Barry Fry took over at Birmingham he went out at night and weeed in all 4 corners of the pitch to get rid of a gypsy's curse which was responsible for their bad luck at home. It was pretty successful too in terms of results, and I wonder if The Doctor has done something similar?

9 points left to play, 6 off the play offs. It appears that dream has now gone, though we still have something to play for- the higher we finish the more money we get. I imagine they are still going for the play offs until it's mathematically impossible, and hope they use this as a spring board for next season.

A good performance last night. A much better one than the 0-0 with Brighton. They are definitely growing in confidence, and the Fuller/Kermo partnership looks positive. It's a shame we couldn't have had them a few years earlier.

Do people still think Fuller should be released in the summer? I've maintained all along that we need to keep him and think his recent form/fitness adds weight to the arguement.

I'm also coming round to thinking we should give him another year. Michael Smith's loan at Colchester seems to have stalled, he's been dropped for the last 2 games so he may find it hard to force his way into the team, and he's as good as anyone else coming through. Haynes may be the one to go, we can't really keep them both.

It's a shame about Haynes as he has been class when fit. I just imagine we would want to negotiate a pay as you play deal, where as a few other sides might chance giving him a full contract.

Fuller looks in much better shape now. I just hope he returns in June looking the same.

There's also the question of who have we been watching, and can we get anyone better. Time will tell I suppose...

after watching the game last night i thought we probably had the better chances.

good luck to cardiff in the top flight though.

a win on saturday guarantees safety as does a draw and results going our way. good news is that palace look like sliding out of the playoffs altogether. i wish we could play them now!

I imagine we will now be looking at players who have been relegated from the Championship or the better players from League One who won't get promoted. Though competition will be stiff.

Speaking of getting players from relegated teams, would anyone want to have another go at signing Sam Baldock?

Not sure about Baldock. I know he's been in a struggling team but from Bristol City forums he never seems to have done it there. At a massive cut price it could be worth exploring, but signing him now doesn't have the same appeal as last summer.

I know what you mean, potentially dodged a bullet by not signing him last year, but then again what hasn't worked for him at City might work for him at the Valley.
Agreed would need to be a fraction of what he cost them <ok>

It will be interesting to see what players are released. I was reading this morning that clubs like Brighton are interested in Alan Judge now, so don't think we would be able to put together a financial package to beat theirs.

Well done gaining a point Addicks. Considering the occasion your team performed well and went all out for the win. Good luck for the rest of the season. One of the better performances at CCS this season from a visiting team<ok>

In the summer I'd like us to look at Jason Pearce (Leeds don't seem to have taken to him? perhaps because he's a Warnock signing)

    and

Albert Adomah from Brizzy City... he's not starting because he's not very good at defending but give him a free role on the right wing and he can tear defences apart.

I have noticed in our home matches the Charlton players place the ball as far out of the quadrant as they can get away with for corners. Possibly they are aware that the Good Doctor did something similar to Barry Fry, but perhaps ramping it up a notch.

I agree. These are the places to look.

Given our finances we will perhaps have to top up the squad with a couple of season-long loans of youngsters from big clubs, but no-one like Frimpong or Razak who thinks it is really beneath them to be playing at this level. Got to be the right temperament, and no more semi-fits.
