Drove into work last night. Got into the city and looked for a parking space. Work doesn’t provide staff parking. It was also Australia Day yesterday so parking was at a premium.
I saw a space across the road from me but with a woman standing there. I saw her actively preventing other drivers from parking their cars in that spot.
I swing around and do what other drivers tried to do. She said I couldn’t have the space as her husband was just coming down. I told her that she just couldn’t stand there and reserve a space. A bit of a discussion occurred and she eventually walked off leaving me to park my car there.
I know I was right in what I did, but does that sort of thing happen more regularly these days? And my car was fine the next morning btw.

I was in a car park the other day, there were no spaces, a car in front of me turned their car around to head back, I noticed someone getting in their car to leave, what does this car do that turned round? Come back and block me off so I can’t get into the space and have to leave the car park
 
You’re right what you done. I have ****ers block my drive cos they’re on the school drop off, even moan when I’ve been in the van about to pull away and they block me. Twisting like Fock cos I want access to my drive. Knackers.
I don’t mind when somebody sits in the drivers seat to move back and forth if needed.

What also bugs me is when you're in a busy car park, you see people going back to their car nearby you, so you pull over and indicate that you're waiting for their space, and then they sit in the car and have a 5 minute chat, even though they can clearly see you waiting. Just get back in your car and feck off.

I suppose technically they are reserving the space before you got there.
Personally though I wouldn't stand in a space to claim it. :emoticon-0148-yes:
What really pìsses me off is none badge holders in disabled bays.

And the fooker a few weeks back.
I was indicating and waiting to turn right across traffic to park in the only available space of a row outside the local shops .
Waiting for seven or eight cars to go by and the last ignorant bellend just pulled in it :mad:.

There were kids outside the shop so I took the decision to drive round the block to calm down a bit and parked in the pub carpark nextdoor <laugh>

I agree with the OP but not sure I agree with you here, once went food shopping and came out before the missus as she nipped to the toilet, loaded the boot and sat in the driver's seat waiting for her, had a knock on the window asking me to move. I didn't move.

I was in a queue heading up to Ambleside right outside the gates of White cross bay, on the opposite side of the road there was a Peugeot car parked in front of a farmers gate marked with access needed at all times. All of a sudden a Massey turned up with 2 lads and a lass in, the lass opened the gate and one of the lads stuck the loader under the car pushed it out onto the main road and rammed it up the bank. The lass shut the gate and they drove off again. I thought somehow I don’t think matey will rush to park in front of farmers gates anymore <laugh><laugh>

We live close to a school - typically the cars are off the driveway before school drop off as we are all heading out to work...one day I forgot something and needed to nip home - some cheeky cow had parker her 4 x 4 on my drive...I did the only thing I thought reasonable which was to park up, block her in, work from home for the morning and ignore her banging on the door...left home at lunch time - very apologetic note pushed through the letter box...silly cow - would not have been the first time she parked there...

On Saturday I drove to the Wallyford park&ride car park to meet @Hettonista who was driving down for the match.

When I arrived around 9am the massive car park was virtually empty so I parked at the very far end.

When we returned the car park was totally empty apart from my car and another who'd parked right up against me <laugh>

I managed to get in the door but, as I drove away, could see Hetton letting his tyres down and kicking his headlights in ...

... which was nice.

I'll admit to having done that in the past but only when I think the waiting driver is acting like a prick.

You could say I am also acting like a prick at that point and I'd have to agree with you but I do find it amusing. It's even funnier when other cars around you start leaving while your still sat there

Apologies if I've ever done this to you it's nothing personal I can just be a twat at times.

Can’t stand Bastads who insist on reversing their cars into parking bays, especially when it’s busy causing extra unnecessary hold-ups. Especially when it takes the Hoors 5 attempts for the manoeuvre!!!

I was parked perfectly central in a space at Tesco. When I got back to my car, an Audi had parked wonky with it's wheels right over the line into my bay and I couldn't open the drivers door. It's awkward climbing in from the passenger side as I have the drivers seat really far forwards due to having short legs. Went into the store and asked them to put a tannoy out to ask the driver to shift it.

Male driver came back. Somehow it was all my fault for not parking properly as he's an expert driver. After telling me how perfect he is at driving, he reversed out of the space without looking and almost hit an oncoming car :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Car parking story of sorts...I live in a street, cars parked either side outside. Now it's never bothered me before, if I can't get outside my home I'll park further away, if a space. Now think back to a few weeks back when we had the snow and at home to Pompey iirc. We had quite a bit snow so early doors I was up digging out my car in prep for the drive to the match. Time to get to the SoL. As im away a Neighbour across the road who has a Range Rover must have gone out at the time i was at the game only goes and parks where I've dug out the snow outside my house. Her not bothering to dig out the snow where she was. To say I was fuming was an understatement. I've yet to see her so I can give her a mouthful
Like i say there are no rules regarding parking but a bit of common decency wouldn't go amiss. Rant over.

Reversing in is better practice. It's safer and can be better for your car :emoticon-0148-yes:
