Perhaps one football reporter from each of the tabloids and they should manage by committee.

We need a manager who plays good football, whose club would be happy to let him leave, who understands English football, and who has shown over a long period of time that he'll put up with BS from the powers that be.

I dont know where HR stands in this picture, as he said before he would happily take over once FC had gone, but after the trial i dont know.

JT is scum, he should never have been reinstated as captain after the Wayne Bridge incident (not because of what he did, just because it would have ruined the harmony in the England camp). The FA had no choice in the matter, they did what had to be done.

But I also agree with Capello, the whole case has been handled appallingly, why is the trial taking so long to happen? Why wasn't he consulted before the FA made their decision? The main problem, from my point of view, is the Press. Our Euro campaign was/is destined to become a Terry-related debacle, and Capello is probably bored of being the scapegoat for our team's incredibly poor performances.

My problem with this is that we've lost one of the smartest managers about, we did the same with Sven a few years before...All this talk of Redknapp and Pearce doesn't fill me with confidence, both have their limitations and good old 'Arry is a crook (even though SOMEHOW he managed to squirm his way out of cheating HMRC).

So what next? If it were possible I'd go for Mourinho, as we need someone like him in charge to deal with the media pressure. If he won't come, maybe Hiddink? All this talk of getting an English manager in is pathetic and jingoistic nonsense, what has any English manager achieved over the last, say, 10 years? 'Arry scraped an FA cup win with a team funded by imaginary money, and that's it...

So Capello is gone... It's not like we were going to win the euros anyway. The sooner the public and the press realise this the better. When you think about it we're just the Newcastle of the international game. We've got stupid, unreasonable, fanatical fans. We think we're really good and that we consistently underachieve when actually we're overachieving with the quality of footballers we have available and we have won something once, nearly 50 years ago. We truly are the Newcastle Utd of international football.

Trouble is OFH, our **** hacks judge England against 1966 and use this as a baseline. What they don't judge is the poor quality of our footballers - to do so would need them to ask the question "why" and that would take them into very dangerous territory that requires some thought. They should try the 5 - why's technique...

I think I am in the minority and not too fussed the nationality of the new manager. What I would say is the guy needs to speak English, know the English game and players and have the balls to drop any underperforming players, regardless of their name. I would have said understand the English passion, but you get the feeling fans of the bigger clubs have lost their passion for the national team and would rather see their club win the league than see England win the World Cup. We need someone to bring pride back into wearing the shirt. The shirt and the captain's armband needs to mean something again, and not a 'selling point' for their image rights

For me, I don't think there are any suitable English candidates. Personally I don't think SP has done a good job with the U21's with some of the players he has at his disposal. Not really a big fan of Redknapp and not sure Pardew really has the experience to deal with the big name players! no doubt they will fo gor 'Arry though, Levy will rebuff their approach and we'll get him in the summer.

As for Terry, I'd happily never see him in an England shirt. A horrible human being who only looks after number 1. We need to get rid of some of the older players who see wearing the shirt as a right, not a privilege. bring in the youth - I don't mind a poor Euros if we have a long term goal!

I think I am in the minority and not too fussed the nationality of the new manager. What I would say is the guy needs to speak English, know the English game and players and have the balls to drop any underperforming players, regardless of their name. I would have said understand the English passion, but you get the feeling fans of the bigger clubs have lost their passion for the national team and would rather see their club win the league than see England win the World Cup. We need someone to bring pride back into wearing the shirt. The shirt and the captain's armband needs to mean something again, and not a 'selling point' for their image rights

Might as well throw in my two-cents.

I am firmly in Capello's camp for this, the FA has handled this appallingly. They have deliberately undermined the manager making a decision without his consultation and he is correct to be insulted. They could have made the decision (with Capello's incluision) when the issue first arose but didn't and Capello as a result went on record backing his choice as innocent until proven guilty, backing down would make him appear weak and undermine his authority going into a major tournament.

It interests me that the FA, all the experts, and majority of fans seem to have put themselves above the courts in terms of determining guilt, and as far as I am aware trial by youtube is not yet an accepted form of justice. Of course if found guilty I completely agree with anyone saying he should never play for his country again.

But what's done is done and now we have a problem, do we go with the acquitted Harry Redknapp, just as well we let the courts decide that one. I don't think he would be the right man but it seems it is his to take. I don't see Pearce as a replacement, he has not done a good job with the u21's and anyone who thinks otherwise should check out the footage of last years u21 tournament. I see no reason why this manager HAS to be English, but then it worked out perfectly last time this happened after Sven with Steve Mclaren didn't it. I would love to see Martin O'Neill but he got burnt by the FA last time round, maybe next time.

Whatever happens we have managed to get our excuses in early for the inevitable failure in the summer, lets see the press try undermining the team now, beaten to the punch by our own FA. Good job.

You might read into that that they want to speak to O'Neil.
They might even be thinking of Fergie - that way he wouldn't be able to make up mystery ailments to prevent United players turning up for duty.

I did catch Alan Sugar on the news saying that anyone who takes the job on needs to get his brain tested. Maybe he doesn't want HR to leave Spurs, but I think that I would have to agree with his views on this.

There is a media bandwagon for Harry, but how long would it last if he did get the job? The honeymoon would be short, the divorce expensive and the recriminations long lasting. Since it was known that Capello would be leaving after the Euros anyway, the FA must have started to draw up a list of possible candidates. Harry may be on it, but hardly at the top of it. Too much baggage, personality too fragile, too expensive to compensate Spurs....

I do think we have talented footballers (people good enough to hold a place in teams that normally do well in the Champions League). But the World Cup is just a pipe dream unless we can beat Brazil, Germany and Spain. 1990 and 1996 seem to be the generally accepted benchmarks for success.

The FA should never use the b-word. And to be honest there is no chance O'Neill would accept the job, partly because of what happened last time he was in the running, partly given the circumstances in which Capello left.
