Pearce and Smithy contracted till end of the Euros. Should take care of the motivation side of things.

There's obviously the chance of the FA stuffing this up again, but can anyone els remember the last time they showed any kind of backbone, either rightly or wrongly?
There's no way the Barwick era would've stood up for themselves as the FA have done this week.

I like the suggestions about Pulis. Stoke (and the Bolton of a couple of seasons ago), always caused problems for the more technical teams like Arsenal, and that sort of style of play, and the determination to defend as we did against Spain, might actually produce results. We are never going to pass Spain, Argentina, Germany, etc, off the park, so why try?

I do it all the time in football manager.

I once left my assistant in charge of cup semi final because Brazil had a big game on the same day.

    I can't see a problem.

I like the idea of peirce tbh. He has done well with the u21's. he has been around the first team. I think he would have the balls to drop some of our 'stars' who just havnt been preforming ie rio, lampard, gerrard and terry. He would no which of the young uns would be up for the job and mix it with a few experianced players i think that would be a winning formula!
To be fair to cappello i can understand him resigning. I wouldnt expect DM to tell Lambert who to pick as captain and that is what the FA ha done. Dont get me wrong if Terry has done what he has been acused of then I think he should be banned. There is no place for rasists in football. But surely who he makes captain and who he picks is up to him as manager? IMO terry aint good enough any way! jones and cahill cb's for me!

How can the FA ever get it right? Its a committee made up of club chairmen right down to county reps. They all have different agendas and interests. If the Cornish rep is on there then god help us all. Down here they managed to ban and fine people for taking part in a charity game!
While I understand we have to have an FA, I really do think the professional game is totally divorced from parks football. Even the professional game can't agree about releasing players for friendlies.
They all need to be in their own place and administered by people who suit each one.

TBH, I don't know if anybody has said this, but i think its great that we could into a tournement with players not resting on their laurels and who should be eager to impress the new boss.

Regards to who it is, Pearce on a permanent NO in a big way, what has success has he had in management? if we are solely looking at English than Harry has got to be the only choice, If we are looking at British then sorry Norwich fans but the FA should do everything in their power to get Lambert because he has been the stand out manager in England for the past 3 seasons in my honest opinion and could very well become an England great. If we are still going down the foreign route (which i hope we don't) then the special one would be the only one i would want, But i doubt the FA could cope with him!

Under Pearce's management the u21's got to a euro final didnt they? Plus he is more passionate about england than player i ever saw play!!
plus i dont think he would take any crap from the players. I personaly would vote pearce over any one else!

What about going back for one of the ex England managers?

I heard someone else mention Hoddle and it got me thinking.
He had a pretty good record with England. He knows how to play football. He is now 10 years or so older than when he was manager last time, so maybe won't be quite so naive as he was last time.

I know a lot of people would like to see Harry as manager, but would the FA? Especially considering his court case, and the way they stripped terry of the captaincy regarding his impending court case?
Would the FA be leaving themselves wide open by appointing Harry?

That is true Sam, but managing your country should be the pinnacle of ones career, the best most qualified man gets the job, it devalues the national team so its no wonder the players have no passion when we appoint a manager who has never done anything of note within club football.

Yes, Stuart pearce has passion and wouldn't take any crap, but i'm sure there is about 10million others within this great country of ours that have those same qualifications!

Firstly, welcome to moderatorship maestro, I'm postive you are the best man for the job.

back to your comment, Surely Harry's court case shouldn't effect anything as he was found Not Guilty.
