back to your comment, Surely Harry's court case shouldn't effect anything as he was found Not Guilty.

He was found not guilty, I agree, but he was still in court and accused of it. There will always be that 'stigma' of dodginess around Harry because of it, as it was with Terry Venables. All I'm saying is if the FA want to me seen as whiter than white as they have claimed in the past, would appoingting Harry make them look bad?
I mean, it's not as if the FA need any help making themselves look bad is it after all?

Maybe they could ask Harry to take England to the Euros, and then see what happens. I believe Fergie once took Scotland to a tournament like that once.

Another thing with Harry. Would he take his backroom staff with him? Joe Jordan coaching England?

Just heard Hoddle on talksport, by coincidence, and his record was 61% win rate. That's not bad really is it?

Hoddle got the boot because of the Eileen business. I think he was half decent but has any manager returned and done a good job. I think of Walker and Keegan who returned to clubs and went nowhere the second time.
I think Pearce is the one and disagree with Guru. Agreed there are many who could motivate but how many of them would command the respect in the dressing room because they had been there and done it. Pearce never let England down (apart from one penalty, whoops, and San Marino) and when he first went to Forest, Clough gave hm stick but he had the bottle and determination to turn it round.
Harry's teams playing attacking football admittedly which is what England must do. But in reality, he has won one FA Cup from memory.

The moment the likes of the s*n stop spreading the **** that we are the greatest nation on earth and can win anything the better we will most probably be.
We are not world class and have few, if any world class players yet so many are disapointed and annoyed when we cant get past the quarter final stage.
I dont follow internationals and havent watched 1 in the last 15 years so cant comment about whether Capella done a good job or not but I watch enough of the players in the league clubs to realise that the expecations surrounding the national team is nothing but hype yet its the managers that always get the stick.

Spot on Maestro. Having taken a stand over Terry simply on the basis that he is facing criminal charges, it would be ludicrous to appoint anyone whose integrity is the least bit tarnished. It really is time to get rid of this "All that matters is can they play football/are they successful managers" nonsense. Phil McNulty wrote a blog recently entitled "Terry lets his football do the talking" or words to that effect. So what was Terry's football saying exactly? "Get stuffed, look at me, you can't touch me, I'm the best centreback in England"?? More disgraceful journalism from the BBC. I revert to what I said on the other Capello thread. Cut out the dross on the filed and off it, and start looking beyond Euro 2012 to the tournaments in 4 and 6 years time.

What I don't quite understand is....... Last night I was listening to 5 Live when this broke, and one of the first people they had on to comment on the earth shattering news was "Colin".
Now unless I've got this all wrong, but didn't Colin get sacked from his job as a football club manager because his employer deemed him to be usless, and was in danger of getting QPR relegated.
So why oh why does the B.B ****ing C. (yes I remembered) in their infinite wisdom, pick him to spout off on the subject? Then after he'd given his holy holy opinion, they then said.........if there's any further breaking news on this we'll get you back on????????????

the bbc seem to be going through a phase where they think we all want to hear the views of 'characters'. they often turn to the likes of warnock, barton, savage etc. i'd rather hear from people who know what they are talking about thanks

Have to agree that the English players are not as good as they're made out to be. One of the biggest problems is they believe all the hype about themselves and seem to think they should always be selected. It seems many may work hard to get into the squad, and when they get there their work is done. They need a manager who can motivate but also someone who is prepared to push them harder and not just protect them from criticism. If the players cant take it they shouldn't be there.

If only it WAS a "phase" Superman. On the contrary it reflects the organisation's increasingly patronising attitude to its audience. They think we are mostly morons who therefore want to listen to morons and if not listen to them, have moron's "tweets" read out to us by so called reporters. Furthermore, they believe we have the attention span of a gnat (apologies to gnats by the way) and couldn't possibly listen to continuous commentary on a game of football without interventions every few seconds from mostly moronic "summarisers" (Kevin Gallacher comes to mind) so that a 90 minute "commentary" consists in reality (if you are lucky) of 20 minutes description of the game and 70 minutes fatuous, repetitious, irrelevant guff which apparently is supposed to be more interesting than the actual football. I've lost count of the times absolutely crucial moments in a game have been "lost" because commentator and summariser were rambling on rather than commentating on the action. Sorry, rant over, back to the thread ..........

What brasses me off even more is the coverage of a game. How many times do the cameras, of all channels, prompted no doubt by a producer, dwell on a player even when the ball is up the other end of the field. I remember a City match the other week and they dwelled on Ruddy, spitting in his gloves and pacing the six yard box while we were attacking at the other end! While the game is going on, there is absolutely no reason to show anything else.
