They reckon scientists are getting near to finding a cure. My mother died of cancer, but some people luckily are surviving. DO NOT mess about if you have any symptons, blood in your stools or urine get straight to a doctor is my message it may not be serious hopefully. By the way if sometimes you drink any red coloured drink or eat tomatoes you don't realise and after you have been to the toilet you may panick but then you know what caused that, it happened to me a few times.
Sorry lads, but I have to say today as been a really ****ty day. After our glorious win on Sunday my family have been brought down to earth with a shuddering thump. My wife went for test last week and initial prognosis was all was OK. Went back for the results today to find out that she has breast cancer, it's operable but throws us all into turmoil for the next couple of months.
Never I understand how it is mate, last week my wife was Diagnosed with Leukaemia at Singleton Hospital, it has brought a dark cloud, but we'll fight it, to the bitter end!.................
Never and Dragon, I can't tell you how sorry I am to hear your sad news. There's nothing much I can say that will help other than to reiterate that, modern medicine and treatment, more than ever, is responsible for beating cancer these days. A few years ago this was said more in hope than conviction. But today it is indisputably true. There now exists a very real expectation of a full recovery from many forms of cancer. On my last bout, my consultant wasn't the least bit concerned. He just told me not to worry, that the treatments they had in place would knock the thing on the head with no trouble. And he was right!! Keep believing, lads, I'm sure that your ladies will be fine.
It seems the glory of our recent cup win has been overshadowed by life's cruel twists of fate for many of us Jacks. I myself have not been as frequent since, as my wife just lost her gran the tuesday after the final, and then her mum also died suddenly the very next day. Chin up lads, with positivety, love and friendship we can all work wonders. Don't ever give up hope.
they say bad luck comes in 3s, now 5s with the news re chico, hope it all gets better for everyone who has had a recent tradegy or traumatic experience
Phil, there are many who would disagree but thanks anyway for the sentiments. After my own experiences, I am only too happy to lend my support to anyone associated with this illness. I now live with the fact that, although I'm clear, it could come back and I take nothing for granted. I make the most of what I can and value life to the full. It's one reason why I rarely get involved in disputes on this Board despite often wanting to let go with both barrels. Life is too short to get caught up in meaningless trivialities and I save my energy for the things that please me. You and Never must take heart. I meant what I said. Survival expectations grow longer and better by the week. I was amazed at how confident my consultants were and how right they were proved. It will be the same for you and Never. If either of you need support at any time, in any way, please do not hesitate to PM me for a chat. A trouble shared is a trouble halved. Will be expecting to hear good news from you both in due course.
Ivor you are truly an inspiration to us all. I thought I'd give an up date after our visit to the surgeon on Monday. He's very confident that he can remove the problem area and my wife should make a full recovery. She just wants to get the surgery out of the way and I feel the same way, but hopefully she can go in for the surgery at the end of this month. My wife is in good spirits now and determined to fight the dreaded disease.
It's funny (in a way) to think that whatever team we support, or wherever we live...we all can share the same problems. Last year i put up a thread on the QPR board very similar to Ivors, telling our lads of what i was going through and warning them not to ignore any symptoms. I PM'd Ivor in support a couple of weeks back to say that I'm going through the same thing as him, though thankfully mine has (hopefully) been caught earlier. His message back to me was really heart warming and the man is truly an inspiration. We might be shouting abuse at each other for 90mins, twice a season but in my heart i know....'It's only a game'.
Hi Ivor ,Just had to have another Hormone injections as my psa as gone up 10 pc in the last mth , have to go back to see my specilist in 3mths.
PSA- Prostrate Specific Antigen, its something that you have in your blood that if raised can be an indicator of prostrate problems (Not always cancer). If the level is raised for your age the it would probably warrent further investigation.
Lauds, don't panic. My mate's psa started rising again but his problem is stable. If you are worried ask your specialist to see you sooner than the three months you mentioned. Wish you well as always.
Thanks Ivor . I am ok apart from that the bone scan was all clear he checked that and said it should be back down within 4wks, also my own JP said the same thing, so thanks again
how does one get checked for prostate cancer without the obvious answer - seeing a GP, are there any tell tale signs?
