I've just watched a video from Saints Youtuber FootballMartin and he reckons that we should keep Cameron Archer based on a few games at the end of last season and thinks he will be a key player next season.
I just don't see it personally and think that he has had more than enough chances to make a good contribution which I feel he hasn't.
I think the time is now to cut our losses and cash in and buy someone to replace him and let's not forget that he was almost out of the door in January until the deal with Rangers fell through.
Anyway i'll put it to a vote.

He's chipped in with the odd goal, including one or two important ones, but overall hasn't performed very well in his time here. Doesn't really suit the way Tonda plays. Probably on relatively high wages.

He's not in the "This guy is total waste of space. Just get rid." category but it's still sell for me.

The guy can finish. An instinctive striker in that sense. Unfortunately for him, he can't be the central striker on his own and doesn't have enough of the right attributes to play left or right side of said central striker effectively. If we played 4-4-2 I think he'd do well ... but we don't.

If a reasonable offer comes in, we should sell.

I'd sell FootballMartin.

Not sure he fits the team but if we sell / loan him we are down to Larin and Downs and BBD

If we do offload him we must assume we've got an incoming or two

Depends on offers we get for him and others imo. Don't really see the value of loaning him out.

If someone is willing to take him permanently for a fee roughly 50% of what we paid then get rid and use BBD to replace his role in the squad.

I’ve seen enough personally, unless we’re playing 4-4-2 I don’t see how we use him. He’s not good enough to play central striker on his own and would be fairly low down the list to play on the wing.

Can’t see there being much of a market for him due to his lack of game time/performances over the last couple of seasons, so imagine he will still be here.

Definitely think he could be useful if played in a certain way, but he’s not worth changing the system for so think he’ll have a similar role next season for us.

I think there'll be teams more than happy to take him on loan, it's just whether that's worth it for us (I don't personally think so).

Yeah think most Champ teams would have him on loan if we subsidise his wages. As you say doesn’t make much sense for us though, he has 2 years left on his deal as it stands so maybe we’d happily take a few million for him this summer. Can’t see us getting even half of what we paid at this point.

For me it’s an easy one:

He is NOT the free replacement for Stewart.

If SR think keeping him means no new striker needed then sell

If keeping him as an option off the wings, or come on to make a front 2 if we’re chasing a game, then keep.

Knowing what we know, we wouldn't have bought him in the first place. He has ability, has his moments but... has to make space for someone more able I'm afraid
