Matt mate what have you been watching ? Brilliant technically ??? FFS how many goals as Cairney scored? How many wonder free kicks have gone in? How many assists has he had? How has his tethnical brilliance helped City score a shed load of goals ?
Take those Rose tinted glasses off cock and take a close honest look.
Cheers
You are an idiot. The kid is 20, the type of player he is will have another 15 years left if he wants it. Tell me how many goals Carrick scores, how many wonder free kicks he has scored, how many direct assist he has had? Not many and he is a vital member of Englands best for the past 3 years.
Xavi didn't start getting recognised till he was 27, players like this take a while to develop mentally. I'm not saying Cairney will be the quality Xavi is, but give the lad a chance. Let him develop, not all players are world beaters and we should be thankful we have a type of player like him as they are rare enough in the top flight nevermind the Championship.
The lad oozes quality, he rarely loses the ball unlike certain midfielders we've had in the past. He has the quality at set pieces, he knows how to pick out a pass if it's needed, he has a good shot on him as well. NP + staff are developing his defensive game which will help him and i'm sure they'll be working on his fitness at the same time.
If you can't appreciate a player that keeps the ball moving whether it be forwards, sideways or backwards then that's a shame. Go and tell Alex Ferguson he shouldn't be using Carrick, go tell Guardiola he shouldn't be using Xavi, go and tell the previous Milan managers and the Juventus manager they shouldn't have been using Pirlo. Look at the Meireles for Chelsea, he is playing deep, keeping the ball moving. But what does he know?
Another way to look at it is we are playing him like this to develop his game before moving him further upfield. Just like Wenger did with Fabregas, Fabregas was played alot deeper before the past couple of years, just like Wilshere is playing alot deeper to develop his game. Fabregas then ended up as the central figured of a 4-2-3-1 behind the striker and Wilshere will also be moved upfield soon.
