“We’ll be losing one or two names this summer, but that’ll be regenerated back into the squad. Alan’s plan is to get a smaller squad, with better quality - so the bench is better. That’s our aim over the next two years. We can’t do it all this summer - we’re not sure what the market will be like this summer when we’re trading. We will lose some faces. For instance, Tiote has been with us a year and a half. He is out there. People know he’s a good player. He’s proven in the Premier League, he’s not picking up as many yellow cards, he’s learning. How are we going to stop a big club from coming in for him? It’ll be very hard. One thing in our favour is that we now have a very good side and that might encourage the player to stay. But if someone knocks on the door and says they want this or that money, the reality may be that we have to trade."

<wah>

How can he say we will be losing one or two in the summer, if no one bids what we value him at (which wil be 25mill+), then we won't sell. He's still got 5 1/2 years left on his contract for ****s sake

Hollywood beckons? :)

Seriously though, you have to keep him as he provides the spine to your midfield. And Catts'll have no-one to kick...

Tiote the softest 'hard man' ever to play in the league. Reputation in tatters after sess floored him plus his shooting is terrible. Most over rated player ever.

To remove attention from Cabaye or Ba, who are viewed as more important and harder to replace?

Surely he could have said,

"Sadly we cannot hold onto some of our higher earners, with Smith leaving at the end of the season and if someone were to offer silly wages to Xisco I'm afraid we are not in a position to hold onto him."

To throw people off even more.

Xisco's fair ripping it up like, since joining us he's scored 7 in 46 for a variety of clubs.That's roughly 2 goals a year, better than Smith! <ok>

Just checked wiki and Smith has scored 7 goals since 2004.

Even for a holding midfielder that'd be bad let alone a striker!

This is a joke, and why I can't stand our ****ing board. I doubt they've even had a bid for the lad, they're just trying to put him in the shop window. This is basically what we've become, some eBay trader of Premier League footballers.

Just to highlight.

"Alan’s plan is to get a smaller squad, with better quality"

So selling a better quality player so we can bring in more, lesser quality players and have a larger squad? Makes sense.

Unless he's scored since I went to Malta then he ain't scored a league goal since 19th November 2005.

Tiote will probably leave--despite a poorer season than last seasons great effort. He is key to our side and should not be touted around like this. Shocking. Maybe he will leave cos hes scared of pussy'CATTS', WHO IS NOW ENJOYIN A WELL EARNED REST FROM TOP FOOTBALL. GREAT EFFORT SMOGGY
