I think Buttner and Clyne will be announced simultaneously. Probably before/during the game tonight. Just a hunch :)

It appears as if the deal has fallen through. My guess would be that the Saints felt insulted by the last minute revelation of the third party. I wouldn't blame them to be honest it was a stupid mistake on Buttner's behalf. If he mentioned the third party before then maybe they could have had a compromise. As long as Buttner doesn't end up at a fellow prem team i don't mind.

Quite right. I think Cortese made a decision that he wasn't going to tolerate being buggered about with. After all, it is the privilege of the footballer to be allowed to play for Saints, not the other way around.

I feel we made the correct decision in pulling out. We shouldn't be pushed around by third parties ffs.

Which is why I think that Cortese left Buttner in limbo. If Buttner and his agent respond to that silence by waiting him out and exploring other options, it doesn't happen; if they return to Cortese, hat in hand, and apologize for their transgression and ask to be granted the privilege of playing for Saints, it happens. He has demonstrated that he will accept sinners back into the flock, but only after a little ritualistic self-flagellation.

This just proves agents are greedy ****ers, to try and change how we were going to pay the transfer fee. Now he has got **** all, serves him right.

It looks as if it's pretty much over with Buttner: http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11700/7914043/Waiting-game-for-Buttner

So Fran, you're just going to have to fall out of love with the lad. Shame really. I thought we were going to get a younger, smaller version of Ivan Golac, albeit, on the left side, and not Yugoslav, either.

You know what I mean. Well, some of you will. ;)

There will only ever be one Ivan Golac!! Golac, Steve Williams, Channon playing down our right hand side....they were sublime. Probably the best and most flambouyant I've seen Saints play even though they didn't reach the heights of the '84 side who were more efficient.

Would be very surprised if we signed Butner now, NC has left him in limbo for a week now, he won't be going back there now.

I agree the Buttner deal looks dead. NC plays things pretty straight. Don't mess with him and he will take care of you. Cross him and you will be in the cold. Puncheon came back but it took a face to face. Since NC had made no real investment in Buttner I don't expect the same kind of response.
