I'm still happy with CP at the helm, and my earlier comments that he's on a learning curve still hold true, but it's a very very shallow curve. Plus, revelations of how much we spent last season suggest that anything less than a championship would have been por indeed. If you spend a lot more than the rivals, you have to expect a big return, but we can't afford to live beyond our means.
All this brings me round to the latest episode in our hunt for seven or eight points to see ourselves to safety. The dribbling leak of points at the Valley is getting painfull, and while the pitch may well be rubbish, both teams have to play on it and at least we know what's coming as it's our pitch. Maybe we need to dig in and try to grub out a series of 0-0 draws as the reports coming on here suggest we could'nt buy a win much less earn one. A defensive line up and a lone striker may be better than humiliation against Burnley and Huddersfield.
I've actually seen us this season (Huddersfield in the cup!) and while it was painfull to watch, it was great to be back at the Valley after years away. However, unlike last year, I am not envious of those who go every week, and on my restricted budget, I'd certainly think twice before buying a season ticket next year if I still lived in Erith. Firstly, we need to save this season by getting a couple of decent results from somewhere, but after that, the directors need to look at making next season a lot more comfy. With our club, I reckon we should be looking at challenging for the play offs, which on current form is a laughable target. I hope we're scouting now for next season, but until we know where we'll be plying our trade, it's difficult to plan anything.
