I can't believe how willing some are for the whole entire club to just change. These are hypothetical situations at the moment but I can't help but find myself a little disappointed at some on here. Just because we have had ****ty owners for the past however many years it doesn't mean they are the only owners that exist. We don't have to lower our standards. As I said before, happy for Red Bull to take over or take some sort of shares into the club, I wouldn't be happy with it but would be accepting of the stadium renaming if it meant we actually owned it, ANYTHING past that and I honestly wouldn't see the club as Leeds United anymore. All the lows we have experienced in the past decade would have been for nothing.
It would be in the same stadium in the same city, seriously Josh, changing the strip? We change it every year anyway so does it matter that it might be white shirts and red shorts?? It has already been pointed out that some great players have played in a red Leeds Utd shirt. As for the name sticking Red Bull in front of Leeds United what does it really matter? We have Arab and Italian owners, we have foreign players we had never heard of, we rent our ground it is keep up or live on history as we will never win a cup or title EVER again without a big serious investor.
That red strip that people keep referring to was an away kit worn only once away to Palace in 1972. We also sometimes wore red socks but only to avoid a colour clash and only away. I find the willingness to simply throw away over 50 years of wearing all white in exchange for promotion and mid table in the PL hard to understand. Like Josh I'd accept a stadium name change but anything else that would lose our identity would be akin to cheating. Let's do things properly even if it means promotion takes another five years.
And what about before that when we probably looked more like a red bull strip? http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Leeds_United/Leeds_United.htm You want to forget the first 40 years and only count the last 50 or so?
I want us to stay true to what we're known worldwide as, and that's Leeds United who play in all white at Elland Road. Revie didn't change the kit to all white for money, he changed it for psychological reasons, to emulate the success of Real Madrid, even though we were a struggling second division team at the time, so we'd become feared throughout the land, and it worked.
I understand what you are saying and in an ideal world I agree. I was working with a 22 year old lad the other day who asked me what team I support. When I told him he he asked "what division are they in?" What we are known worldwide as has no meaning to anyone under a certain age, another dozen years and it will be even less.
No offence mate but he must be ******ed. I suppose it's down to personal preference. I'm not the most patient person but I'd still rather wait a few more years and build the foundations keeping the name and the kit the same instead of changing everything for a quick fix
Far be it for me to point out an obvious truth. As things stand all the lows of the last ten years have been for nothing.
Oh boy! I can just imagine how the Don would have coped with this lot of supporters 50 years ago. White?? WTF do you mean white? White means surrender! Real Madrid? So they've won a few cups in Europe. Only 'cos we weren't in it! We're better than them. They couldn't survive in our league. Dirty bastard spigs! We've worn the blue & yellow for 40 years now. You never heard about heritage & tradition? Thankfully, the Don ignored the fcukin' lot of us.
You know what they say, "if you want to see what your missus looks like in later years, look at her mother" deepest sympathies Glory to your wife, not you
